We sold our 13 year old LH drive Fiesta to a dealer today for 600 euros. It was sad to see it go, as it's been a really good runner, in immaculate condition and having always been used as a second car it's only got about 49K kilometers on it. As we drove away I reflected that the Fiesta was in much better condition than either of the first two second hand cars I owned when I was a teenager. Yet despite putting the word around for over 12 months, on an "offers" basis, nobody was interested. I'd have thought someone would have known a young person who would have snapped it up, and we would have been pleased to see it go to a needy cause rather than making profit for a car dealer.

It's the same with trying to get rid of furniture, white goods or even computers/printers these days. My first home was entirely furnished by relatives' cast-offs or second hand purchases out of the local rag. Yet these days the kids seem to have everything brand new, despite the fact that many of them are on benefits or struggling, and they turn their noses up at some really good stuff.

Does anyone else find it difficult to pass on unwanted yet still valuable goods?

I bought my first record-player from a second-hand shop in the late 60s. But it's very difficult to get charity shops and the like to take electrical good today because of health and safety concerns.

Cashconverters is good for old hi-fi. I've bought a set of separates which link to my PC: an amplifier, a CD player, and a cassette player from them, each £20. They do record decks too but I need 3-speed and I got a couple from ebay some time ago.

Just had our Voter registartion form in.

The accompanying 'advice' is a page of garbage.

14 sentences laid out as 14 paragraphs. The first 10 paragraphs keep saying .... return the form..... you need to return the form..... return the form..... unless you fill in this form..... return this form now.... if you don't then..... even if the information on the form is correct....

Then paragraph 11 says you can respond by phone rather than return the form Rolling Eyes

Should they have said that in paragraph 1 Question

Brochures ain't what they used to be.

I visited a customer in Nuneaton Warks. on Friday and in their foyer I picked up a little brochure 'Visit Northern Warwickshire 2011' bit late, yeah. Just opened the brochure today and page 2 is contents, page 3 has pieces on,

Visit Tamworth, the ancient capital of Mercia

and

The Borough of Hinckley and Bosworth

Hmmm. Tamworth is in Staffordshire. Hinckley and Bosworth are in Leicestershire Rolling Eyes

So, what is Northern Warwickshire? Well there's the A5, from Nuneaton to Atherstone, and few villages.
