|
|
As reported by fellow posters Mark O and Fred, (excellent work guys) Richard Allinson will be on Radio 2 in daylight hours as follows:
w/c 28th December-Covering For Ken Bruce For the whole week 9.30am-12 o'clock midday.
w/c 4th January-Covering For Chris Evans (or should that be be Simon Mayo) on Drivetime for the whole week-5-7pm.
Hopefully Richard will be given some music freedom on both these stints and is not held "a slave to the current play list in force at the time his shows go out".
Great to see Richard back on daytime radio. |

But surely, in the morning slot, he'll have to play whatever Gary Bones tells him to play? Just like he has for almost his entire Radio 2 career! |

I think you might just have your "tongue firmly in your cheek" on this point Nod.
Still 5-7pm is better for fans of Richard Allinson than the night-time slots he normally occupies.

I was going to make a crack about him and Hank Marvin splitting up but decided against it! _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Excellent show delivered by Richard Allinson today.
Really liked the theme of "your Christmas mishaps"-some funny stories told here. |

Maybe I was tired but I couldn't be bothered with the show this morning.
BTW do they not do playlists for the early hours shows now Mark? I thought of listening but wanted to glance at the playlist and there wasn't one for either of this weekend's shows.

Helen-No idea why they aren't showing the playlists for the last 2 late night shows.
Would advise both shows contained some excellent music-you would not be disappointed if you listened in via the iplayer feature. |

Did anyone else get the impression the weekend shows weren't live? |

Emerging from the shadows like a triffid
Someone saying he's pre-recording his weekend shows? |

Haven't listened, but is anything live on Radio 2 over the weekends these days?

He's normally live, but I think this weekend's weren't, as he said there was no need to email or text...
You couldn't really blame him could you? Not over Christmas. |

Yes I think you are right Sandra-the last weekend shows were pre-recorded.
It is quite difficult to tell with Richard because he is such a professional and as such all the links are perfect-guess he has perfected this technique with his weekly Allinson Albums show over time which is pre-recorded.
The tell tale signs re whether Richard is live or not is that when he was on live he would normally comment on a particular news story at the top of the hour-ie he would make some witty comment about one of the stories included or some have banter with the newsreader etc.
Also as you say there was no texting/e-mails read out etc and of course no 3.46 club segment (my favourite feature of his weekend shows) on either the Saturday or Sunday shows.
Hopefully this coming weekend shows go back to a live format.
Good to note that you are still listening to Richard. |

......of course the biggest tell tale sign that Richard is either live or not is the cameo appearances of Zoe, Emma or Lynn P's onto Richard shows about 15 minutes from the end of the broadcast.
Richard usually has a little chat with whoever is following him-eg anything interesting that may have happened in the last week, Zoe's pregnancy, "have you brought me any food in Emma?" what's coming up etc.
Should have mentioned this earlier. |

Really enjoyed listening to Richard covering for Ken Bruce last week.
Really looking forward to hearing him covering the Drivetime Show this coming week.
NB-Would definetly like to see Bobbi Pryor replace the tedious Lynn Bowles. |

Nice post, but then you spoil it at the end. Nothing wrong with Lynn. Lynn Bowles will be part of Chris Evans breakfast show. |
