The free concert on the roof of broadcasting house was brillant. Radio Centre would complain, because they are jealous the BBC got there first.

Ive just defended the beeb on r2 board,but during december,Dr who bloke was on everything on every channel

I agree that there was too much plugging of the album, it does not matter how 'brilliant' the concert was (I thought it was rubbish personally)
I didn't see it as a question of getting there first at all, U2 is not the first or last time someone or something will be over-hyped

Like mark, I detect the green god of jealousy at work.

Compare Radio coverage of the "impromptu" rooftop concert, at which they did four numbers, with almost any other major band or artist, let's say, for example, Paul McCartney, who always manages to get himself onto chat shows, his new single played for the first time on Wogan, and allow televised concerts just as a new album is issued.

I didn't hear it myself, but you, Toggy, are not the only person who has said it was rubbish, in which case you would think the publicity backfired. I don't think the album has been one of their better sellers, by a long chalk - it's in HMV's sale at a fiver.
