At the Coventry City vs Nottingham Forest football match last night I (and 18,000 others) witnessed the first female referee taking charge of a league game. It was a great moment, and I'm really pleased for Amy Fearn.

She had acted as assistant (running the line) and took charge after 71mins when the original ref had to go off with an injury. She made all the right decisions and the footballers repected them all, even one of our payers was rightly 'booked' for a foul offense.

John-Word has it she is line to referee a match in her own right in League Division 2 before long.
