There, the question speaks for itself. I really like Alex's style, but rarely hear him because of the unhealthy hour in which he's on air.
Saturday, immediately after SOTS, would suit him methinks. What do others here think? |

I suppose it would depend upon what price during the midweek. I know he did a few saturday evenings a year or two ago in the immediate aftermath of 'Sachsgate' but that was only ever temporary, like overtime I guess, but as permant duty? Hmmm. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack.

Alex is brilliant, if slightly inconvenient, where he is, give or take an hour or two. He would not be able to do, and get away with, what he does during the day - his style would be cramped. _________________ Ron |

That's very true. It's much like John Peel playing acid rock on his "Perfumed Garden" BigL pirate radio show in the early hours of the morning when he should have been playing Top 40 material. His attitude was that nobody in the office in London was listening so what did it matter?
I have to admit I haven't listened to Alex live for ages - the last time was when I was making my way to the airport to catch an early flight. You're right - he definitely has the run of the place and it wouldn't be allowed to sound the same during daytime. |

I think if you were to ask Alex which time slot he’d kill for, it would be the slot immediately after the one he has now. If doing a Saturday show were to be in addition to his weekday show then, I would say you have less than no chance at all of getting Alex to do it for anything other than an occasional one-off. Alex lives for the weekend!! If doing a Saturday show was in place of his daily weekday show, then I’d doubt it would come with the financial reward necessary to sustain his bad-boy man of the people lifestyle. I'm no expert on Alex though- so you never know. |

I think you do Rachel a disservice - she has a First Class Degree, with honours and is currently doing an MA. _________________ MiS |

Alex is a most wonderful, kind and warm hearted man; the light above the revolving door to his Show is a beacon of hope and inspiration to all lost souls wandering in the dead of night. Once inside, that hope turns to reality, spawning the most satisfying feeling of warmth and wellbeing, which reaches with unfailing enthusiasm to comfort the fabric strands to the very souls of his listeners. To me, he is perfect; there is nothing and no one on this earth that comes even close to being his equal- he is my Church, and I’d die to defend him. |

Ken Bruce isn't dire. It was slightly different from the days when they broadcast from Birmingham and had to stay in London. |

He used too. I remember hearing Mark Goodier saying, " why not call me to cover as I'am one of the closest to the station. |

Do you mean in a spiritual, metaphysical sense Mark? Or geographical? |

You can ask the top brass at the BBC & they will tell you it is for his own protection. He would melt if exposed to sunlight |

Ah yes. I've a memory of Goodier covering someone (maybe SK) at short notice where he explained that he had been chosen as he lived closest to the station and no-one else would have been able to get there in time. |
