Not sure where to put this one but came across it today by chance in the colour supplement of the Sunday Times.

There don't seem to be any catches that I can see, you don't even have to register. We use BT so should be okay.
At the moment I use Onetel with a prefix before the US number. We've been signed up for at least 10 years and I believe that to use it now you have to change your landline to (I think) Talk Talk to use it.
I know you can sign up for a friends and family international but that costs you 99p a month on top of whatever package you are on.
Our friends have recently started to only use their mobiles (internet conflict problems when using house phone), which means a more expensive call charge. I had an email from them asking if calls to mobiles from the UK were more expensive. It would seem not to be over there. Their mobile numbers are almost the same as a landline (the same area code etc). I'm guessing they haven't had many calls from the UK lately!
Hope it's of use to someone.
