Some have already taken place. Saturday evening / night. Steve Lamacq starting when Bob Harris used to; Bob himself being shunted forward to midnight, so he's now a Sunday show! Here's the schedule page in case I've missed anything off: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/programmes/schedules/2010/04/03
And, of course a knock-on effect for early Sunday, not least Lynn Parsons losing her show completely: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/programmes/schedules/2010/04/04

Thanks LEE, I should add these to the page.

I'm not a Saturday Bob Harris listener (I suppose his show is really on Sunday, but let's call it Saturday night!)

How would we describe Bob's show ? It says Bob Harris picks an eclectic mix of new tracks from the worlds of Americana, Alt Country, Indie, World, Nu-Folk and Blues.

Steve Lamacq also plays 'new music' ......

so both shows are new music, but is Steve's UK only?

There is a moaning thread about how late some of these shows are on over on the R2MB. Yes, yes listen again is the argument.

Steve's isn't UK only but it is primarily Indie. I like to think of Steve's show as a glimpse into the 6Music playlist for Radio 2 listeners.

It is difficult to describe Bob's show. There is certainly a heavy Canadian/American bias about the music, but it's not entirely North American. It is a mix of all sorts of musical types. You could hear Blues, Country, folk, 'world music'. I even heard him play 'Air On A G String' by Yehudi Menuhin once!! He play's little in the way of playlist stuff, but he did once play The Pet Shop Boys and I've heard Alanis Morrisette. The only real sop to the playlist I've heard is Snow Patrol's 'Take Back The City'. I doubt you would hear any X Factor or Britain's Got Talent type artists, but I wouldn't rule it out completely.

Not really very much that I'll listen to in there John.

I don't like Jamie Cullum nor am I a jazz fan so that's Tuesday nights switched off for me.

Desmond I'll leave on, although I don't often listen to Friday night Drivetime so I'll have to make a mental note to switch on the radio!

Tim Rice and Bob Harris will be Listen Again if I've time.

Pardon me your Lordship, but with my poor eyesight I can never read what you post. I'm sure I would find it interesting if only I could read it. Crying or Very sad

Oh I can see it now in the quote! Very Happy

What about if you "highlight" LEE's posts by swiping your cursor across the text?
it'll then be white lettering over a blue background... Razz

It's dark red on a darker grey background for me. Not much use!

Didn't manage to hear Jamie Cullum last night. Worth a trip to Listen Again?

Very disappointing for me Ian, no music pre-WWII, so no classic jazz as far as I'm concerned.

Billie Holiday. Clearly Cullum hasn't got a clue, once would be a slip, but he quoted her year of birth TWICE as 1939. (It was 1915). Just not worth talking about that anymore.

I know he's presented on r2 before so this was no way to present his first proper jazz series programme, no structure, very boring in parts with the guest.

Ramsey Lewis? One of the best jazz tracks EVER? Rolling Eyes

Sheez, and after all the hype Polar Bear are just a noodling pub group with no direction in their playing. Mad

Well I suppose Cullum (being one of R2's bright young things) will probably have his show researched and produced by yet other "R2 bright young things." The fact that the difference between the two dates is an entire generation would hardly matter to them, since neither date applies to their generation. And of course anyone who did originate from either of those earlier generations is most likely pushing up daisies by now (in their enlightened view). Rolling Eyes

I didn't catch the show properly, it was on in another room but from what I could hear, I didn't feel moved to go there.

Much of Cullum's programme consisted of a very boring "interview" with Ramsey Lewis, a very unlikely subject for a first programme in a (presumably) long residency for Cullum.

But listening, it became clear that Cullum had NOT interviewed Ramsey Lewis, it wasn't even an interview, he was just recorded talking about his influences, and was frankly boring.

The programme had no structure; clearly Jamie Cullum is not prepared to sit down for 1 HOUR and do a show Rolling Eyes

I caught the last few minutes of Tim Rice's Show American Pie. I'll listen again over weekend if time allows as I've been to Washington State. A long time ago though.

Undecided if it will be 'mustn't miss'.
