Whilst seeking some detail on Van Halen's track "Jump", I noticed the track was included on a list of "Banned songs" produced by a company owning several US Radio Stations following the 2001 9/11 tragedy.
Browsing through the list of 166 tracks, I was surprised by the inclusion of some!
The Animals "We Gotta Get Out of This Place"
Louis Armstrong "What a Wonderful World"
The Bangles "Walk Like an Egyptian"
The Beatles "A Day in the Life" - "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" - "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da"  - "Ticket to Ride"
David Bowie and Mick Jagger "Dancing in the Street"
Buddy Holly and the Crickets "That'll Be the Day"
Bobby Darin "Mack the Knife"
The Dave Clark Five "Bits and Pieces"
The Drifters "On Broadway"
The Jimi Hendrix Experience "Hey Joe"
Herman's Hermits "Wonderful World"
John Lennon "Imagine"
Peter and Gordon "A World Without Love"
Elvis Presley "(You're the) Devil in Disguise"
Zager and Evans "In the Year 2525"
The Zombies "She's Not There"
Maybe there is something in the lyrics our US pals thought inappropriate at the time?
Some other track's titles on the list would certainly have been out of place and you can see why they were included.

| An interesting list (not seen the full one). Particularly puzzled by "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" although I'm sure at least 2 of those songs were actually played by Wogan in the weeks after the event (What A Wonderful World and Imagine). |

I know Kate Bush's Army Dreamers was banned from airplay on the BBC during the first Gulf War, and KLF's 3 AM Eternal had the gunfire bit on the intro cut.
Massive Attack had to lose the last part of their name and Abba's Under Attack wasn't played at all.
