I was looking on the programme pages for the new 'in concert' show that began last Thursday, hosted by Jo Whiley. I noticed that Johnnie Walker has been added to the page as a presenter - I'm glad to see him being used.
Anyone listen to Thursday's programme? I heard bits of it and didn't really see the point. Surely they could have incorporated this into Radcliffe & Maconie's programme. The first hour sounded a bit like time-filler before the big event of the Weller concert in the last hour. R&M did a splendid version of this type of show about a year ago when they had Morrissey live from the radio theatre - it was put together so beautifully, it makes you wonder why they've gone for this rather poorer version. Perhaps it's just Whiley though - I like her, but she's not got much enthusiasm. |

I suspect that R2 management are lining up Jo Whiley for a major slot when her days with R1 are done. R2 lacks a good female presenter. |

I see there was a big fuss about Stuart and Mark only going to 3 nights a week, and they havn't even been added to in concert. I thought they were involved? |

When they do get someone who is good to listen to they let them go, I like Lynn Parsons. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

I like Lynn Parsons too. There is still Janice Long, tucked away in the midnight hour, why do they never let her out in the daylight these days? Another good female presenter they unceremoniously dumped was Sybil Ruscoe. I never heard much of her as she used to follow Bob Harris in the small hours of Sunday (as did Lynn Parsons) but from what I did hear, she sounded good. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |
