According to Alan Carr Twitter page his listeners have increased. So Emma Forbes was doing well with him before she left.

So, exactly who listens to this trash? Just because the presenter says the figures have gone up, does that make it so?

I'm not a fan of the show but I do seem to catch part of it on a regular basis whilst washing up..
I agree, ideally he wouldn't be on Radio 2 but I don't think it's that bad. I'm not so keen on his new co presenter however.. Emma Forbes "relaxed style" as a counter measure to Carr was much more to my liking.
I suppose I'm saying I can put up with it for an hour or so whereas I'm finding more and more lately, the Breakfast Show is becoming unlistenable! ( apologies for bringing CE into it... )

Exactly. It's just like the trash that Evans broadcasts in the morning. Just because lots of people listen doesn't make it "quality broadcasting" any more than the fact that millions of people hand over money to MacDonald's for their junk food doesn't make it Cordon Bleu standard. It just means that many people have trashy tastes.

I'll continue to avoid both. And Alan Carr........ and many other atrocious programmes on R2 these days.

Yes and I will be doing likewise! Sad

Colin, you've really got to stop saying that people have trashy tastes just because they don't concur with your views.
I think you've got really trashy taste because you like Chris Moyles, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry but I don't keep banging on about it.
You can hardly be an arbiter of taste if you enjoy those three.

Ah, but I beg to differ. Take Moyles, for example; whenever he throws himself into doing something in public he does so in the full knowledge that he will make himself look daft. That's what I consider to be a self-deprecating disposition. When Evans engages on something in the public eye he does so becase he's desperate for attention and approval. He tries too hard and it shows. I guess that explains why he's so goddamned irritating - and why his radio shows are the equivalent of mass fodder.

Still, let 'em eat cake!

Why? I thought the whole point of a board like this is that people have differing opinions and express them freely?

I should have thought it could be taken as read that anyone who enjoys Alan Carr has trashy taste!

I don't know much about Lady Gaga but that one they just played on KB from the "oh so monotonous" play list really gets on my nerves.. like a few other female singers we have around now.. Heard it all before - but better.

I don't mind the new Lady Gaga song - Alejandro. I guess it's worthy being in the A List because she's at number 16 in the charts Shocked. Why do Radio 2 always seem to promote chart music.

Because they think they're giving their listeners what they want - in other words, the musical equivalent of a Big Mac when many of us actually want home cooking!
