After the budget and cutting costs this is disgraceful - although it's a private company and partly funded by the Government. These guys should have thought twice. Also Iain Coucher the Chief executive who resigned from his post earlier this year is greedy.

and there was me thinking that's what wages are for..
It is wrong in my opinion.. why do these bonuses have to be so big?? it's not a bonus, it's potentially a life changing windfall.
and if they are doing so well as to be able top pay these incredible sums, why do they need to rely on public funding? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

True. Somehow, I can't see the guys working the lines in the middle of the night being given such "rewards for success" for getting the maintenance done on schedule and at minimum disruption.
Still, that's the way it was intended when darling Maggie privatised it all so perhaps that's the way it has to be. |

Thats the answer! " The Way it has to be? No thats not the way it has to be. These guys should think about providing a service for the customer, not too see how much money they can collect to build their own little empire. He'll only move onto another big bonus job and milking them. Thats what they do. Hopefully this will give a message to other bosses who are entitled to big bonus. Don't except it only causes outrage. |

It's not down to them. It's controlled by the regulatory system.

They don't have the power to do that ad hoc. Again, it's controlled by the regulatory system.

If it's in an executive's contract that they qualify for a bonus of X if the business achieves a given target, then it would be breach of contract not to honour it.
However, whether such agreements will be entered into under the new "Call Me Dave" Premiereship remains to be seen. |
