Just out of curiosity, I thought I'd see if I could post over on the BBC R2 MB a few minutes ago.

I thought I'd let you know that despite the fact that I've not posted on any BBC MB for months, I now discover that I cannot post to any of their MBs (and certainly not the R2 board) from my fixed IP address.

I do have a couple of other IPs I can use but it's a pain having to go through switch-over hoops and I can't be bothered.

And still "a certain spamming troll" is allowed to post on the BBC R2MB.

I have never, ever, posted anything as offensive, boring, inciteful or provocative as that person, so one has to ask what is going on here.

I posted something on there yesterday, Colin, after an absence of many months.

I see the "spamming troll" is still as popular as ever with the moderators, if not with the other MB users.

Yes, I read it earlier! Smile

I see lots of threads in which a succession of posts have been removed pending moderation.

Is it all worth the bother?

No.

Such a shame - it's where RockitRon started, and it was brilliant - Music, News & Current Affairs, Coffee Bar, Folk & Acoustic - and there were a lot of good people with interesting things to say.

Most of them disappeared when they clipped its wings the first time (got rid of the N&CA and Coffee Bar, and tightened the "focus" of the Music discussions). Now it's not even a pale shadow, and I have not felt moved to post there for many a month.

The two things which haven't changed are the moderation, which is a bad joke, and the troll. You'd think he/she'd get fed up posting the same stuff for five years or more. At least he's predictable, and he can be spotted a mile away.

That's why I assume there to be a deep-seated psychological issue there somewhere. It's obsessive.

Looking yesterday, I noticed that he's moaning (just to wind people up, of course) about Sarah Kennedy's "Show Tunes" saying that it's stuck in the 1940s or whatever. However, this morning's was a mad, silly, completely barmy song from the wonderful "Spamalot"!

I haven't even looked there for such a long time, gave up when they moved the goalposts. They're a waste of time, probably what they want so they can close them - free speech eh? Rolling Eyes Heaven forfend that any of us mere licence payers should have the temerity to criticise the Beeb!

I was suspended some weeks ago for 'trolling', that's what the mods message said. Yes, me a troll Very Happy

I had posted repeatedly about the same issue: Ageism tolerated on the Two News & Views forum.

I suppose me being over 50 I just had to be silenced.

Which, of course, begs the question as to why 'you know who' has been allowed to seemingly get away with trolling the board for so long.
Thinks - Wasn't there a pop song some time in the 1970s about this that went something like 'This board aint big enough for the both of us. And it ain't me who's gonna leave!'?!
