Down on over a million listeners from the high point...
I saw it in the Guardian but shold be in all papers. |
He put on 1m listeners, then lost 1m and is now back at the same level as Wogan this time last year. No big deal either way. |
Still, a million listeners actually gave him the time of day for a while but ended up saying "Sod that load of nonsense for a lark"!
That's a lot of listeners.

I believe Wogan had half an hour less programme time as well. _________________ "There are more of us now......that makes us right" |

An hour less, actually. He used to follow SK at 7.30 and finish at 9.30. That's five hours less per week than The Gobby One which must have an interesting effect on the statistics (although they're bound to tell us that they're adjusted to take such things into account). |

It be funny if the station couldn't find someone too fill Early breakfast and had to get Chris too start at 6am. Must be in the pipe line for this to happen. Radio 1 breakfast used to start at 6am, then moved to 6.30am. |

It's very funny , because I like reading the critics on the forum regarding Chris Evans. I'm I provoking them with some of my comments? |

It would be even funnier if we could get CE to start at 5am and burn himself out by about 7.30am
I'm sure there would be no problem in getting Ken to start a bit earlier and there would be no shortage of suitable candidates to fill the gap _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I can't be the only one who doesn't bother with the station much these days so I guess it doesn't really matter what time El Gobbo starts, to be honest! |

Evidently so - him and that other egomaniac, Robbie Williams. Where's Room 101 when you need it? I'll pull the lever myself if necessary. |

Thankfully I don't hear any of this due to the fact that I avoid him where I can (it isn't always possible, of course) but his constantly plugging of his other appearances is proof that he's a total egotist who craves attention at all times. |

I was in the utility room this morning and OH switched on TV in the kitchen which is next door to it. Saturday Kitchen was on. After a couple of minutes I commented “Why do they all have to raise their voices to such a pitch? It's as bad as listening to Chris Evans”. OH replied: “It IS Chris Evans!”
That man is all over the BBC like a rash. |

SAW A MESSAGE ELSEWHERE ANNOUNCING
Chris Evans is to present his breakfast show on 23rd December from the Archbishop of York's house. Joining John Sentamu will be the likes of KT Tunstall and James Dean Bradfield.
I can't see the point of this celeb breakfast show - wrong time of day - most of us cannot sit down and listen to it, radio will be on but we'll be doing breaksfast, then getting things ready for the day, then a 15 min car journey with radio on, then radio will be switched off at about 8.30am, so it can't be a continuous listen for millions of people. Whatever is going to be 'interesting' will be missed by so many.
But the rajars will still say millions 'listened' so well done controller _________________ -

Yep, Archbishop Sentamu goes into Chris's studio for Pause For Thought so he thought he'd return the favour by inviting Chris to his place for a show!
Nowt wrong with that. |

Er... he did the invite live on the breakfast show! No-one 'changed' it - the Archbishop invited the breakfast team to breakfast whilst appearing on the breakfast show. |

Another expenses-paid jolly for a large production team - and that's before factoring in the cost of hiring Radio OB facilities and all that gubbins.
What, I ask thee, is the point? |

I don't think it would cost that much for an OB. I'm sure it's in line with budget for the show. |

Are you kidding? If they're using SIS or Arqiva then we're not talking peanuts - especially since it will require a satellite uplink and all the stuff that goes with it.
And what does "in line with the budget for the show" mean exactly? It still has to be paid for!
Wogan didn't all this BS. |

Each show gets a budget to pay for guests and staff etc. I guess Breakfast has one of the highest budgets. Chris Moyles a few months ago went out on a OB for a week, along with the BBC red button TV broadcast team, which probarly would have cost a lot. |

Perhaps someone could set up 'border controls' to stop him getting back from York, not that we want him near here! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Sounds like that 'breakfast' conversation was scripted after the Archbishop's 'dinner' conversation, so the breakfast gig was likely an Evans/producer idea.
It's not Breakfast show material, just an ego-trip for Evans, few will listen to all the interesting stuff, either getting ready for work for having a pre-Christmas lie-in. Waste of space that show. _________________ -

Fairly sure Wogan once did an OB from Roger Royle's house. This is no different. |

Any Wogan OB was a rarity. It's already getting to be a habit with The Gobby One. |

I remember Sir Terry doing Wake Up To Wogan as an outside broadcast with the Springwatch team a few years ago, not least when they had to shelter from a heavy rainshower. You could hear the rain beating down on their caravan! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

That also indicates that the OB resources were already in place so little additional expense was incurred. Contrast that with Evans' staff jollies on expenses! |

Is it me, or do the conversations that CE has with the guests on Pause for Thought sound a little false or forced? TW seemed to have a natural rapport with everyone who spoke, yet each time I've heard CE recently, it sounds as though he's desperately trying to find something meaningful to say - but usually ends up spouting crass remarks. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Anyone who is unfortunate enough to catch Evans on BBC1's The One Show (Fridays at the moment, but who knows) will draw pretty much the same conclusion. He just doesn't care what anybody else has to say - at all!
His voice is the only one that matters. |

I totally disagree with you there Cherskiy, I have found Chris to be really friendly and relaxed with the pause for thought guests.
I have found out more about the guests than I ever did while Terry was presenting the show. |
