Hmm - I thought it was more about the message than the personality or the person on PFT - but YMMV. Smile

Hmmmm, it is about the message Cherskiy, but wasn't your post about the conversations Chris has with the guests?

Yes, I was stating my opinion that they seemed a little forced - yours was that you thought they brought out more details about the guests. I don't subscribe to that point of view, personally - I think its simply another example of CE letting his mouth run away with him.

But who am I to argue? Smile

You got to be polite with the people from the Church, when your live too the world on the Radio or TV. Chris did have the Archbishop Of Canterbury ( Dr Rowan Williams ) on during last week. I'm amazed he didn't use these few minutes airtime to mention about politics etc. He's usually very open about this. Laughing

Evans talks about The One Show situation. Bless, he seems totally oblivious to the chaos he causes.

I bet that if Chiles and Bleakley were to be asked for their side of the same story, we'd get a completely different spin on it.

Evans is undoubtedly a clever guy who has made a lot of money out of broadcasting, but I do wonder whether he's not a little bit thick. His presentation style does indicate a deep-seated need to be loved and admired - you can tell that by his body language on the One Show as well as his hyped-up style at the top of his radio show at 6.30am.

He's made Friday's One Show unwatchable for me and others in my house - but I'm sure he thinks that everyone loves him.

I don't know. The BBC had long wanted to give the Friday edition a higher profile, possibly because of the lower ratings. They wanted a more vibrant "Weekend Starts Here!" format, and they were probably right in thinking that Adrian Chiles was not quite the man to front it.

As it turns out, nor is Chris Evans, because he just looks uncomfortable, whatever day he's on, and whoever the main guest is (Matt Baker is even worse, though).

It would be more like the weekend if they put out Dr Who instead of The One Show. The weekend starts at 5am on Friday's, everyone knows that.

If the weekend really does start here I think they should bring back Ready, Steady Go! and give Evans the boot he deserves. Or perhaps a revamped Top of The Pops?

Or anything other than Evans?

Yeah why not, proper programmes, I don't like those mirror programmes, the ones where you're sat on a sofa watching someone else sat on a sofa. They're just not interesting, the guests are often dull celebrities with a dull book or dull DVD or tickets to a dull dull show to sell. Those type of shows are just advertising in disguise- well actually it's blatent. News 24 is better than early evening BBC 1 but Channel 4 news is even better than that. The One Show is pants. We should stop talking about it, we'll only encourage them, and I wish Chris Evans would stop talking about it on the Breakfast Show too! Humph!

One Show ratings have really shot up in the last month or so. In fact, it's getting over a million more than it was at this time in November. People watch no matter who presents it!

I heard Chris is presenting Wednesdays The One Show this week ( 8th December ). Just wondering how many days he's actually doing. I'm not really fussed, because I'm a few who don't mind him. I just wonder if this was the plan.

That's the question that's on the nation's lips.

You're how many, Mark?

Of course it was the plan. It's a plan that was hatched when La Douglas brought him to R2. The BBC is committed to inflicting the irritating idiot onto us at every opportunity. You should know that!

More belitting of Johnny Saunders today for an off the air comment he made about Kylie. Very unprofessional, but typical of a bully.

I think we can add the Peter Kay Co-hosts the Breakfast Show to the Bath Tub Show and the Show in a Feild.. the matirix gets another big hole. Poor poor broadcasting. A good show wrecked by lack of preparation and no plan- you can't just turn up with a cup of coffee and no preparation. Peter kay ruined it. He wasn't funny- he didn't know what to do or say- he was like a drunk fish out of water- to make it worse they live-streamed video of it, so anyone watching could see what a shambles it was.

Just do the show! How hard can it be to just do the show?

I am clearly the saviour of my own sanity - I switched off just after Moira "I'm His Personal Newsreader" Stewart's bulletin and went back to sleep just as her indoors got herself up and ready for work.

I find it's by far the best option when Evans is on. There's only so much one can bear and that time - or any time - of the day.

Peter Kay was only saying a few words and wasn't really co hosting. I saw a 20 minutes of the live streaming. I don't know what this was all about.

I personally think Radio 2 and The One Show should now be a seperate issue. Chris should stop trying to turn Radio 2 Breakfast into the evening consumer TV show. Bob Shennan needs to put his foot down, and stop tippy toeing around some of these broadcasters. Chris is a nice guy, and I enjoy his shows, but this issue mentioned above is becoming a joke.

It's not really a Shennan issue - the deal with the insufferable Evans was done much higher up, and it's somebody at that level who is obsessed with the idiot.

I don't know Evans personally so, unlike yourself Mark, I don't know if he's a nice guy or not, but I do know that he's being allowed to exert too much influence within the BBC at the moment and that has to stop.

He was allowed too much range before and came a cropper.....it is to be hoped that will happen again.............and it will...just be patient

In some cases if you don't ask you don't get. In Chris case he has asked, but some can look upon it as abusing the use of it.

Evans knows how to play a political game and is exploiting his influence to the full. Some day soon he'll come a cropper - probably when the person who is currently championing his cause at the Beeb moves on. Let's hope he moves on with him/her.

The BBC is now getting near saturation point with this irritating person.

It's nice to hear his son chipping in from time to time. Makes a change from the immature and often incoherent babble from his father. Razz

I think it's Chris wife who brings him in. I'm sure thats when he stays in London. Unless it's the baby sitter.

Perhaps the baby should be presenting the show. It might actually be more entertaining!

Have to agree, after nearly every guest he has on in the morning, he closes with the 'Must get them on The One Show' comment, Chiles must be spitting feathers at the audacity of Evans.

The guys head is getting bigger (especially after the breakfast show appeared twice in the Telegraphs Top Tens of the year), lets hope the BBC give him enough rope.

Well, the 0900 to 0930 half-hour seemed to be a disjointed shambles earlier today. CE berating his whipping-boy, JS, re the Top Tenuous, admitting the timings were all screwed up and then talking over the hymn at the end.

'twould be laughable if not for the fact that CE got this gig when there are so many decent broadcasters out there who would have jumped at the chance.

I have found myself listening of late purely because there is nothing else commercial free, and I have to admit that the music is in the main OK, but cannot help but cringe at most of the cr@p that comes out of CE's mouth.

If I was JS I wouldn't have lasted as long, I'd of smacked him in the gob long ago!

He treats him as an idiot, continually trying embarrass him by making him repeat off air comments on air, you can hear the fear in his voice when he dares try to challenge anything that the great CE has said.

Yes, on the rare (very rare) occasions when I've been unfortunate enough to overhear this garbage of a show I have to say that the music is all that's bearable. However, that's easy; the running order is pre-loaded before the show and The Gob merely hits the play button at the appropriate time.

I do wonder at some of the stuff he comes out with, though; it's almost all completely and utterly banal.

This is curiously like his last few weeks at Virgin, where he bullied his posse into revealing on air the last time they'd done illegal drugs.

As if 3 hours of him wasn't enough, he intruded on 1 min 45 secs of Ken's show this morning. Be warned, it is not safe to turn on Radio 2 until 9.32, and no doubt he will encroach further Rolling Eyes
