Newsbeat has paired them off - http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/11219783 - don't look at image 3 if you're of a nervous disposition.
Paul Daniels looks as though he's morphed into a cross between Uncle Fester and Rob Wilton.
Felicity Kendall... ooh, if only you'd done series one!
The last pair are two of the new pro dancers - eye candy for the girls, or boys, I suppose.
Brucie has given it the big Vote of Confidence in opting out of the Results shows. Probably a wise move in the interest of self-preservation - the possibility of Ann Widdecombe doing a John Sergent and getting near the final (who knows, she might be a real nimble dancer?) is too much for younger men than he. _________________ Ron |

I'll be watching! I've enjoyed all the series up to now so I suppose this one will be as good.. although the new line up doesn't seem so exciting as past shows.
Does Pamela Stephenson look like an older version of Billy Piper??
Nice to see Patsy Kensit taking part... well, nice for me at least.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Trivia Item Number 1029: I went to Paul Daniels and the lovely Debbie's wedding in Beaconsfield many years ago. Barbara Windsor and her (then) husband Steve was there too. |

Trivia fact No 1030. I did not go to Paul Daniels' wedding so didn't see Barbara Windsor & her ex hubby on the grounds that I wasn't invited!! Can't imagine why! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Never mind Helen..it's not to everyone's tastes.... .up to now it's just you and me for sure,Santa....will you be watching Ron? ....and perhaps Colin will be having a sneaky look if only to see his mate,Paul?....
If Brendon is still there I would love him to be partnered with Ann Widdecombe

My money's on the gorgeous Ann Widdecombe, who definitely has the "John Sergeant factor". |

We'll be watching, but largely because Saturday night TV is such utter c**p.
I think someone should run a book on who will be voted out first. My vote goes to Patsy Kensit. It'll have nothing to do with talent, just who's dispensable. I felt very sorry for Martina Hingis last year being first out. No way was she the worst. _________________ Minx

It's partly because we're not always in when it's on so you lose track a bit.

I hate all shows which rely on "viewer interaction" (ie: get the viewers to stump up cash in order to vote). People don't vote on the basis of talent, they vote on the basis of who looks cute or who is flavour-of-the-month.
Trouble is that phone/text/web voting makes a lot of money these days - especally on ITV, whose entertainment programmes are almost entirely dependent on such revenues. |

Agree Colin. Viewers voting, has beens or never wases and the audience a-whooping and a-hollering (for God's sake, you're not American) are all massive turn offs for me.
There was a programme called Maestro a while back in which celebs had to conduct an orchestra and gradually were eliminated by a panel of experts. It came down to a final between Goldie and Sue Perkins. All the experts gave it to Goldie but the public, with it's vastly superior knowledge of conducting an orchestra voted for Perkins. No wonder Goldie looked bemused _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

Well, I don't agree...
I can see your point of course and there's been a quite a few times where I've been saddened and astounded to see a couple voted off when, to my eyes at least, they were more talented than the remaining contestants... but the title of the show is Strictly Come Dancing, not The Best will Win.
It's an entertainment show, the outcome of which is steered by the public voting in the main, for whoever they think is the most *entertaining* - not necessarily the best dancer. Surely if the idea of the show was to determine the best dancer, it wouldn't involve the public and would air at a much later time.
( Please feel free to substitute "like able" for "entertaining" )
( I don't recall much "a-whooping and a-hollering" ?? )
and of course, the British always like the underdog... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

She said herself on BBC Breakfast last week that she thinks that's the reason she was invited to take part. She said "If it's good enough for John Sargeant it's good enough for me". |

I'll be watching as well - I can't help meself. Thought the opening show was as camp as a row of tents and laugh out loud funny in places (and I don't mean Brucie's jokes), but it's kind of compulsive in a nothing else on the telly of a Saturday night kind of way. |

Sorry, I can't do reality TV or whatever it's called, and Brucie, from the snap-shots I've seen needs to give it up now, it's embarrassing. He's a TV legend but enough Brucie Baby, enough.....
I'm not being ageist but there is a natural end to all things and his obvious failing at fronting this thing, Strictly Come Dancing on Ice in the Big Brother house Lost on the Castaway island next to The Farm where Britain's Got Talent in the Jungle with the Masterchef from X-Factor is glaringly obvious.
Mind you, Felicity Kendall didn't look bad for her age when my kids forced me to watch the opening blast on Satirday |

Who you rooting for then Becks?
From what I saw on Saturday Pamela Connelly (can't remember her other name) seemed a surprisingly nifty mover. Henson danced like a carthorse and other than that I didn't really notice anyone else. |

I didn't see all of the 'launch'...very posh... ,Soulsis..was watching the footy...but I like the look of Jimi Mistry....looks to be a nice fella....will have to wait and see about his prowess as a dancer, though.
I am really amazed that Ann Widdicombe has taken part .....I would have thought it would have been one of the last things she would do... ..there's gonna be some fun there with her and Anton... |

I'm recording it.. why is on so late? blimey do I sound old?
I don't compare this show to the Jungle one or any other similar shows.. admittedly, some of the personalities can irritate after a very short time.. Zoe Ball springs to mind, but I do think the final few contestants really have talent and have worked so hard to get there.
I also love most of the live music too. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Me too RB ..I love dancing but can't do ballroom dancing ..well not to any decent standard ..perhaps one of these days I might take myself off and give it a proper go.
I thought that was a great opening show and the standard was quite high even Paul Daniels had some rhythm and didn't show himself up. The star though was Pamela...lovely to watch and Patsy, I thought, showed great promise ....surprised to see how nervous she was..
Enjoyed watching all of them....good start! |

Sorry but I'll have to give it a miss as it clashes with what looks like a very interesting documentary on another channel about additives they put in paint in order to make it less runny so people can complete at least 3 coats in one day
Apparently its riveting viewing and not to be missed
After all given the choice between watching Strictly and the alternative I'm sure like me most people would prefer watching paint dry |

Well I was right about Pamela - Billy's missus, but wrong about Gavin the clodhopper Henson, who was not a clodhopper at all as it turned out. The one who made me smile the most was the fella off countryfile - he was brilliant. |

Only just seen this thread. I'm definitely watching!
I did learn a bit of ballroom dancing in my youth, but never got as good as even the beginners on Strictly.
Maybe my partners weren't all that great either.
In our class we had one man with a wooden leg and we, girls, had to take it in turn to dance with him. It was hell when he stood on your foot as he couldn't feel it!!
I was surprised how nervous Felicity Kendall was. My money is on Matt Baker.
Is Brucie trying out a new catch-phrase? Oh dear! |

Didn't know until I read it elsewhere that Matt used to be a gymnast......that explains the opening to his dance!
I laughed at Ann's waltz not in an unkind way but because it was funny.....and she seems to have more of a sense of humour than I previously gave her credit for..
I do hope they keep to not having dancers prancing round when the 'turn' is singing ..I always thought that was bad manners.... |
