As a regular "Strictly" watcher.. I believe the show has been turned on it's head since the John Sergeant fiasco.. and I don't believe the judges are happy about the present situation at all.. they say now it's down to entertainment but I'm convinced they're far from happy.. but, they're all earning a good fee so what the heck?
I can't believe the BBC has done it again with Ann but as Colin said, the phonecall income plays a part.
I think it's a shame that a good talent show has been spoiled and, without a doubt as far as I'm concerned, dumbed down.
Perhaps that's why they got rid of the other female judge ( for got her name.. ) maybe she voiced her opinion on the new format? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Arlene Philips - and recently on BBC Breakfast she remarked of Strictly "Well, let's not talk about that particular show...".
That says it all, perhaps? |

Well I think the show stepped up a couple of notches this evening... simply fantastic performances by SSSSSScott Tara and Matt, although I think they all improved including Ann.
I particularly enjoyed Scott's dance and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he wins the "competition".. if not then I'd suggest Tara.
I reckon Felicity will bite the dust next...

Top entertainment tonight |
I thought exactly the same at the end Santa.....terrific entertainment...of two different kinds however....the before bit of Anton and Ann's dance had me laughing .. fun entertainment, then Kara,Matt and Ssssscottttttttttt had me applauding their dancing talent ...
Michelle took a backward step tonight and Felicity for all her suppleness looks oddly awkward...I thought in the first few weeks that Pamela had a chance of winning but not now...Gavin showed another side tonight with his children and I almost( but only almost .. ) quite warmed to him
Craig is such a spoilsport, giving a 9 to Scott after giving the impression he didn't think it could be bettered!
Michelle to go, is my bet .....whilst Ann will be sallying forth, with the rest, down the M6 to Blackpool. |

Yes Becky, I was laughing so much I almost had tears in my eyes after Gavin gave Bruno that smacker on the lips!.. the look on Bruno's face had me in stitches! it was sooo funny.. But Scott and his partner really came through after last week's set back, nearly as entertaining as last season's Charleston by Chris and Ola.
But you're right about Felicity.. she didn't "flow" at all last night.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

No trip to Blackpool for Michelle, then and no dancers for Annie......bet she wouldn't stand for it!....mind they would have had a job weaving through those candles......
The audience were obviously told ...out of respect...not to applaud the dancers when the soldiers were singing and quite rightly so,but I don't see why that shouldn't extend in a different kind of respect way to other artists when they are singing. |

I espied a programme (and recorded it) that was on the other day with Andre Rieu celebrating the music of Strauss at the Royal Albert Hall....it was an utter delight! |

Oh! I missed that, Becky
My favourite DVD is "Homecoming". Sadly, I gave mine away as the recording wasn't brilliant, but I wish I hadn't now.
"Homecoming" is recorded in Maastricht, where he was born and it is very emotional (for me). It was an open air concert and it was lovely to see everybody join in. |

Not a bad show last night but...
I didn't get the intended extra "buzz" of the show coming from the Blackpool Ballroom.. I don't know why, I think the sound levels were wrong and, with the exception of Kara Tointon, the general standard was down slightly from last week.
Another reason may have been an "out of sync" situation on my TV for the whole of the show! the speech was slightly behind the action. I tried rewinding "live TV", retuning to the HD channel and watching the recorded version but to no avail...
Ann Widdecombe is getting on my nerves now and the sight of her being swung around by an arm and a leg was ridiculous..
I reckon Kara will win it. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

It's just not the same without the "Dance Off", as it's now just a popularity contest.
The whole thing is just a laugh now. |

The reason the production decamped to Blackpool was that studio TC1 at Television Centre, SCD's "home studio", was being used by Children In Need on Friday night and previous years' efforts to de-rig the studio and move SCD set plus technical resources back in within less than a working day had proved to be a bit fraught (both productions are massively resourced and the de-rig had to start as soon as CIN was off air). The last year this was done they only just managed the SCD studio set-up in time, apparently.
That's why they came up with the idea of de-camping to Blackpool on the same weekend - it then gives the studio resources teams the weekend to get out of TC1.
Of course, this studio (the biggest the BBC has) is also used by "Later..." as well!!! |

Well another week of Widdecombe to be endured.. in a way, I'm almost glad to not see Felicity gurning her way through another show! Probably the right decision.
Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the new slimline Duffy tonight... I think she's great... I wasn't so impressed with that lot from Las Vegas however... all a bit messy. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Your says it all really!
I've got used to Felicity's gurning, I think, does she do this all day?
It's Gavin next, I reckon!
Actually, I kept waiting for an announcement of Ann, saying she's leaving the competition, but it hasn't come yet. |

You'd think that once Felicity had seen herself pulling funny faces on TV, she'd try to stop it wouldn't you? she's much better just being relaxed..
Yes, I'm surprised Ann hasn't dropped out.. from the Judging at least.
If she's still there near the final it'll be a disaaaaaaster.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I know I'm a cynical, suspicious woman, but it occurred to me that we only have their word for it that Ann keeps getting all these votes.
Why don't they publish the figures? |

Anne W wears leggings so you don't get to see her knickers. Thankfully.
Felicity's gurning is annoying, but Patsy Kensit's hamming it up really is the pits. Last night she was so busy doing her own little production that she didn't go to commiserate with Felicity after the announcement. Even her partner left her 'hamming' it whilst he went over.
She was really OTT this weekend, continually shouting the panel down, talking over Tess Daly, so 'me,me,me' all the time. _________________ Minx

The programme has split into two now ....Strictly and the Ann and Anton show....after Saturday's performance (which was woeful....again) whoever is voting for Ann should in all conscience ask themselves if she is still entertaining them....It's getting embarrassing now
She meanwhile seems to have no such conscience and is literally walking from round to round.
Back to the serious competitors and the top three, for me, remain Kara,Matt and Scott...Pamela performed well but is not consistent enough.
I loved Katya's black and white outfit....it was gorgeous...

Even the best couples were a little jaded tonight I thought, particularly Scott.. he really lost the plot unfortunately. I even felt sorry for Gavin as I felt the marks and comments were a little unfair and he seemed genuinely disappointed..
But the one that surprised me was Matt. I made the comment to Mrs SFF that he seems to have been consistently good so far and tonight was no exception but the judges slated it! again, a little harsh I thought... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Yes,Scott looked in danger of losing it altogether tonight....some of them go on about how hard they are working in their day to day job,why then, when they know their commitments, do they accept the offer to go on Strictly?
Len was a bit cutting when he said to Aliona if you have to explain what you are doing then it hasn't worked as a dance.
I liked Patsy's dance tonight ...thought she looked fab as well...I don't think Pamela's dance merited two 10's ..she looked as if she lost her footing a couple of times.
Jill Halfpenny said this week she will appear naked in public if Ann wins ..the way things are going she could have regrets saying that....
Is this the week when even Ann's followers have had enough?. |

When I first saw this story in my Sunday Mirror today (the headline in the paper was somewhat different to the online version) http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2010/11/28/rapper-50-cent-says-strictly-s-ann-widdecombe-is-hot-115875-22745809/, I first thought of Colin B Then I looked a bit closer and it wasn't him! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Loved Kara's dance last night and she looked fab as well ....thought it was every bit as good as Pamela's V Waltz.
Matt was really good as Austin Powers and caught the mood of it well.....

What a relief!
Pamela's routine was lovely last night. Kara messed around too much with the chair, instead of dancing.
Gavin actually showed an improvement and danced.
Loved Matt's routine. |

I'm shocked. Not only was the excellent entertainer known as Wagner booted off the X-Factory last week, but now Strictly's best entertainer been dumped.
This is very disappointing. Really, it is. |

I think Strictly's best entertainer is Bruno! he makes me laugh with his exuberant actions..
I reckon Kara will win.. last night's dance was fantastic.. better than Pamela's four 10s imo... and, she looked gor-ge-ous too.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I can't help but wonder if Bruno has been told to act like a 'professional' Italian. A few series ago I don't remember him being anywhere near as hyper as he has been these last couple of series. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |
