Those who know me will tell you that I can smell a new Bar a mile off.
May I have a hot, sweet Colombian, please?
O.K. Maybe with a drop of cognac added.
Cheers
Have to go out soon, but I'll be back when the champagne has cooled a little. |

(don't worry I'm self employed, work from home - not that much work is getting done at the minute)
Its yonks since I had a hangover. I'd forgotten how crap they make you feel. Any remedies anyone? |

If I've had one of those nights before. I usually have a nice fry-up the following morning and plenty to drink. That usually helps along with a couple of paracetamols. I'm usually feeling better by around dinner time. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Aw Soulsister, I sympathise. It's ages since I had a hangover, but to be serious, I don't think I could even try the "hair of the dog".
For me, lots of water is the answer. And you think: "Never again, don't you?"
I never drink too much when I'm on my own, but when you're having a good time it all goes down without noticing, I find.
By this evening you'll probably be feeling in the mood to tackle that half empty bottle. Shame to let it go to waste, isn't it? I'll help you out. |

I think you can probably guess folks what I want to drink
Yes a pint of Ruddles County sadly no longer brewed at its original home in Oakham Rutland but still a good pint brewed in Bury St Edmunds
As they say in Rutland
Multum Im Parvo which translates from Latin as Much in Little
Yes I did study Latin
It was not of much practical use but very interesting |

I visited the Ruddles brewery with a Camra coach trip around 1980. It was quite a rare pint in Warwickshire in those days and had a legendary reputation for flavour.
It occasionally appears today as guest ale in free houses and in the odd Greene King pub that we have around these parts. _________________ -

Ruddles Bitter is even harder to come by but I have recently discovered that the sell it in Wetherspoons pubs for only £1 65 a pint all over the country and it's a very well kept pint
I recommend you try some |

Yes, Ruddles Bitter is a regular at the Weatherspoons in Broad Street, Brum, The Figure of Eight.
I often meet for a curry there on a Thursday night but I've gone off their curries lately, half way though you begin to wonder what actually are you eating _________________ -

John I go to their place in Wrexham every Thursday and the curries are fantastic there
In fact they gave me a free one last week!
They have just opened literally about half a mile from here and I know the manager from Wrexham so I'm looking forward to a few good Autumn evenings!
Within walking distance even better! |

Ruddles County - along with lots of other decent beers - is a regular beer at my local just down the road.
I had some Black Sheep last night, and a few weeks ago we saw the return of "Piddle In The Wind". Now that was good! |

We've never got a decent beer in France, so we've brought several bottles of Old Peculiar and Speckled Hen with us. They're depleting fast! _________________ Minx

French beer?
Mrs W and I recently drank/ate at Le 3 Brasseurs in BRUAY LA BUISSIERE near Bethune, they have a 'micro-brewery' on the premises, not sure if their range of beers meets the British definition of 'real ale' but the beers were excellent!

Well I don't drink.. at all.. but if I did, I'd be in the corner with three fingers of Red Eye.. in a dirty glass.
Mrs Santa Fe is over in Germany for the week and I've had the worst few days in our business in 14 years!
Yesterday was one of those days I could have cried and walked into the sea like Reggie!
Long story but it involved a blocked drain run, about 35 feet long - inside the building at first floor serving two bedrooms and a shower room.
The normal methods wouldn't clear it so I took the end bog off and rodded.. that didn't work either. Just as I was thinking this is a major hassle, a member of staff rushed up the stairs to tell me the bedroom below was flooded with "water" cascading through the suspended ceiling.
She was right, wrecked. ( the furious plunging had pushed out a basin waste connection and allowed some of the trapped water out )
So now I have the floor up in the shower room, a floor up in one bedroom, a wrecked bedroom to refit and... the pipe is still blocked.
I'll have another... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

John, I remember when Weatherspoons were charging 99p for Ruddlers sometime ago. Very nice pint.
Pint of London Pride or John Smiith Smooth - Cheers |

Trouble with a lot of pubs (and branded retail chains like Wetherspoons) is that they tell you they sell "real ales" when in fact they're not due to the way they're distributed, stored and dispensed.
My local has proper cask-conditioned and physically drawn Spitfire at the moment. Now that's very nice - and a timely offer, too, given the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain! |

I wonder if John Smiths still do their bitter as a cask conditioned ale. It seems many years since I last saw it on handpump in any pubs near me. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Elpuss I don't think they have done for quite a while
You can still get Sam Smiths on handpump in Chester city centre for less than £2 a pint and in my view this has always been far superior
I'm really encouraged how many microbreweries we now have around Chester North East Wales and Shropshire all producing excellent local brews and I really do try to support them whenever I can
Nobody in my view will ever create a beer to surpass the original Ruddles brewed in Oakham in the 60s and 70s and probably before my time |
