I'd ban certain phrases from T.V. programmes such as:
'Coming up!'...
'After the break!'...
I'm sure there are others that are just as irritating.
I'd also reduce the number (and length) of 'ad' breaks generally.

Further to the shop thing. People who leave their trolleys width ways across the narrowest aisle while they piss off to find more shopping. I have been known to hijack these trolleys and remove them to another part of the store.........then return to watch

Ok I'll be the first to do this one: 1) Chris Evans because I'm so sick & tired of hearing / seeing him all over the BBC and elsewhere!
2) I'll agree with the poster about those who still drive while using their mobile phone. And I'll add...
3) Those who drive with their foglights on when there clearly isn't any fog, and no, a rainy / drizzly day doesn't count! It is just as dangerous in it's own way as using your phone whilst driving.
4) Speed humps. Before I'm lambasted about this one, I understand the idea behind them, but, if you're driving at night, you are momentarily dazzled by any car which is travelling in the opposite direction to you as they come up over the hump. Potentially dangerous as modern cars have no diffuser on headlight lenses and headlights are much brighter these days.

5) Americanisation of this country. The loony right moan about what the EU might want this country to do, but nary a murmer about creeping Americanisation. No I don't want 'fries', I'll have Chips please. That poor casualty was taken to hospital, not 'hospitalized'! I know there's plenty of others. And similarly..
6) Other management style jargon. The next person who tells me what's "not rocket science" will be asked to tell me what is rocket science.

1 - Anything Simon Cowell related (yes I know he's the new pantomime bady ) I hate the way he is controlling the charts at the moment (yes I know he's not the 1st to do it)
2 - (preparred for lambasting) Lewis Hamilton sorry yes he's quick and young but he's not all that, yes he's British get behind the British driver but stop thinking he's invinsible he makes too many mistakes, Jenson is better and what seem slike a noce bloke with it (I like my drivers in Red cars)
3 - Sit Coms (yes there have been a few gems Yes Minister, IT Croud, Black Books) In genral they are all rubbish even the ones that start off ok like only fools keep going and getting duller and duller, No sit com does what Faulty Towers did a few great episodes then stop. They all milk their early successes. So fed up of watching new sit coms for 10 minutes to find out just how bad they are and blocking out another hour/half hour of the tv guide for me.
Other than that I'm ok

I'll agree about sitcoms. For me, the golden era for them was the 1960s to sometime in the 1980s. This, to me, was when they stopped being funny and started leaving me cold.

Gotta say guys - there is one sit com I love and it ain't British Everybody Loves Raymond. Now humour is subjective and we don't all like the same thing, but this one really tickles my funny bone for some reason. The casting is brilliant - the parents, the two brothers, Deborah the wife, even the bit players who come and go.

Not sure about that, yes it started off being great but too many series later it got weak, although killing him of put pay to any come backs.
SS, some of the US sitcoms are watchable Big Bang Theory can be ok , as Frasier and Will and Grace. I just don't bother as there will be more spaces than jokes

I'd like to put those people who use the words "knowat'mean?" at least three times in every sentence into Room 101, please.
Oh, and people who can't tell the difference between "their", "they're" and "there" or even "your" and "you're". They drive me nuts. While I'm here... those who don't know the difference between "its" and "it's" - even people who set text as captions and credits on mainstream TV programmes. There's no excuse for any of it, so Room 101 for all of them too, please.

PS: By the way, all of us here at CB towers think that "Gavin And Stacey" is an example of excellent modern-day sitcom - and its creators were sensible enough to kill it after three series. A friend of my wife's has watched all three series on DVD 8 times. |

I've seen on other forums a 'W***er of the Week' section ... but that might be a bit low brow for R2OK, so Room 101 is perhaps a better option.
However, if we did have such a section on here then I'm with you Becks, Piers Morgan would be first in. Or maybe Sting and Trudie? Decisions, decisions. |

Road humps which cause serious damage to the inside of car tyres and excessive engine noise in residential areas
Unnecessary road signs which clutter up our towns and countryside
Bus and taxi lanes except in London
Bicycles unless they start paying road tax and insurance like the rest of us
The 70mph speed limit on motorways to avoid bunching

Soulsister, I love 'Everybody Loves Raymond'! Since a Genesis fan pointed out Ed Milliband's resemblance to Ray Romano (Raymond) on the Turn It On Again boards, I keep expecting the mother, Marie to turn up at a conference with a tray full of cannolli or another tasty dish!
My choices for Room 101:
Detective programmes on ITV3 (Marple, Poirot, Wycliffe, Morse)
Tedious period dramas - I can't see the trailers for Downton Abbey without thinking of 'Downtown'!

That Lorne Spicer woman who does Car Booty and Cash In the Attic - the voice that goes from trying to be posh to estuary and back again in a single sentence, and goes up and down the octaves in the process like out an out of tune piano. Broad beans. How can anyone eat broad beans?? 
Indian call centres. Sorry it may be very un PC and all that, and they are all very efficient and polite, but it's hopeless. The communication difficulties are horrendous (at least for me) their formal speech, the accent. I nearly cheered the other day when my internet connection went down and I rang BT and got a UK based operative after having been put through to India several times. It was so much easier to follow the instructions and I was back online in minutes.
Historical Revisionists. This has been touched on in another thread ... but I have no time for these people who come out with some contradictory theory of past events based on 'startling new evidence'. 99 times out of a 100 there is no new evidence and they have just put a different and controversial spin on things just to make the headlines and sell a few books or get their mugs on the telly.

I'm involved in running an organic garden near Oswestry and one of my regular jobs amongst other things is to tend the broad beans
Needless to say I get copious weekly supplies in the season and have even been known to eat them for breakfast
They are full of goodness and very good for people who want to shed a few pounds
That is providing you don't put too much butter on them
Vegetable spread is absolutely fine!
I'm just jealous as I'm not allowed to eat butter and if my doctor found I was he would not be amused! |

I'm a veggie guys - haven't eaten meat since I was about three years old, and I love all veg (not crazy about runner beans I must admit but I'll eat 'em). I was also put off swede because of school dinners .. but rediscovered it a few years ago, and don't mind it now.
But broad beans I cannot be doing with in any shape or form - something about the texture and they've got a weird kind of back taste to them? Don't like the leathery skin and the way they kind of pop when you bite into them, plus they look like little kidneys and if someone offered me a million quid to eat a plateful of them I'd have to think about it |
