(I know this isn't the perfect section for this, but I think it's preferable to keep threads about CE in the top half of the board)
There is an interview with Chris Evans in todays Magazine with The Times.
Because The Times charges for its online material the only reference is the report in the Daily Mail...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1318996/Chris-Evans-How-ectopic-pregnancy-killed-wife.html
** His wife suffered an ectopic pregnancy earlier this year, and she had to go to a private hospital for emergency treatment.
** He turned down an opportunity to take Jonathon Ross's late-night TV slot.
** "But he suggested bigger TV projects could be on their way" _________________ Ron |

Colin you were right they have been grooming him for that slot, lucky for Friday nights he said no

Yes, yes great idea, give him more TV work. Preferably live and and at breakfast. He's wasted on radio. Why deny those that like to veg in front of a visual stimulant the pleasure of his professional creative "spots". Instead of just listening to the lisping little treasures in the morning, telly people could actually see them as well via webcam and skype. The pleasures would be endless.
How about giving him "its a knockout" to revamp and host? |

He won't leave Radio 2. It most probarly be something on a Saturday. Maybe a live game show similar to what Ant and Dec do? I think he will take over from Wogan on the CIN TV coverage.
Back to the story. I remember he had the day off and came back the next. Which seems a silly regarding the story. At least she was ok. |

Why would he leave Radio 2? Thats his bread and butter , and the other projects are his jam. Wogan did Radio & TV, it will mean he may mix both with RM covering. |

Whatever trials and tribulatons the bloke goes throuh in his personal life is neither here nor there. We can all only express our own take on things and my take is he's a crap broadcaster, and even crapper on the telly.
I honestly can't see or hear one redeeming feature about the bloke. He has no interest in music, he has nothing interesting to say, he's not attractive, he has zilch charisma, he doesn't even have nice voice ... and let's face that's set many a radio presenter in good stead.
He's just crap basically. He has a posse of minions to laugh at his jokes, he plays records that's a producer gives him to play and he relies on gimmicks and phone ins to get through his time on air.
If people genuinely like his show then good luck to them but I would rather listen to my leaky gutter when it rains than listen to Chris Evans any day of the week. |

No I don't. Not as a DJ or a TV presenter. I think he's crap. Whatever kind of person he is, or whatever he goes through in his personal life is of no interest to me whatsoever, and is not deserving of comment as far as I'm concerned. His wedge is getting paid for out of public money i.e the license fee. He is multi millionaire, for shouting down a microphone basically and joe public is paying for it.
If people want to tune into his programme then good luck to them but I will never listen to the bloke. 10 minutes and I'm sticking my boot through the speakers. |

You wanna live in the past Mark, check out Radio 1 early nineties and Chris Evans was spouting the same crap he's spouting now. He's a throwback and a hasbeen and yet the Beeb are foisting him on us like he's the best new thing since sliced bread.
Tell me what's new about someone shouting down a micropone, talking over records, having kids and allsorts phoning in to the show and a posse of minions laughing at every word that comes out of the presenter's gob.
If you like it mate good luck. |

Soulsister there are countless other threads saying EXACTLY the same things as you available.
I thought this was about a newspaper article regarding a health scare regarding Chris's wife.
I really can't see any link between your rant and the article at all |

Radio 2 breakfast is different to when he was at Radio 1. He's on the radio to entertain the listener not to just play back to back music - if you want that try the other top radio station based in London. |

No it isn't. It's just as childish - more so, in fact, when you consider the guy's age.
mark occomore wrote: | He's on the radio to entertain the listener not to just play back to back music |
Really? How come other top presenters manage to "entertain" without indulging in such banality whilst relying on the undying support of his merry band of sycophants? He's always worked this way. That was his style at Radio 1 and also at Virgin. Things just never change.

It is indeed Gaz and that was the point I was making. I'm not interested in the bloke's personal life or what he has or hasn't done, or what trials and tribulations he's been through, I just think he's a crap broadcaster and my criticism of him is entirely down to that - his time on air, not what goes on in the rest of his life. I admit it did turn into a bit of a rant after the responses I received and on account of having had a few glasses of vino last night when I posted, so I apologise. |

Even though Soulsister said her rant was a product of vino....I am with her. If you read the article the last paragraph was promoting the fact he was planning more TV....................In my opinion that was not necessary _________________ I like hedgehog crisps |

That was just Evans doing what they all do - making it look like there's always something bigger and better around the corner. It also implies some kind of exclusivity for The Wail as well because it hints that they're getting a scoop.

I don't think so. R2 has just been a stepping stone in his revival, a job where he has been 'accepted', where he has 'behaved himself', so he's now worthy of something bigger.
The offers will rush in, hopefully. _________________ -
