In the Mail this morning http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1319978/Radio-One-DJ-Chris-Moyles-approached-to-Capital-FM.html now this wouldn't this be an excellent opportunity to shove Evans over there (where his show belongs) and get sanity back to R2?

Who cares? But...

"Chris would also have six million listeners from the offset as all the Global radio stations will be united."

Not for the two peak programmes at breakfast and drivetime they won't

Chris Evans is as likely to return to R1 as Richard Allinson is to get R2 Breakfast.

It would, but I don't think R1 listeners would want him, from what friends with R1 age offspring tell me.

It's the Mail so should be true Laughing. So it says Capital are set to continue with local breakfast, which would mean local drivetime just like Heart. I guess they would push for National breakfast. Moyles has always made it clear he dosn't really get on with Johnny Vaughan.

Radio 1 is different to when Chris Evans was there, the structure is different - so don't all jump and down, as this will not happen.

Reading other forums it looks like Moyles has made it clear this is last year on Breakfast.

Doesn't get on with Johnny Vaughn ? what has that got to do with findng somewhere to work ?
I like others don't like everyone I work with.
CE is not radio1 material any more come on he's in his 40's R1 should stick to their mandate (of which has slipped with Moyles stayinglonger than he should have) and get someone New/ Young and in touch with R1 listeners. I'm apraoching 40 myself so would have no idea what these kiddiwinks like, although Nihal, or Zane Lowe (although I can't see Zane leaving his show and playing playlist stuff) but they will probibly replace him with that awful Fearne Cotton women but as I say I'm not target audience

It won't happen - but not for the reasons you state, Mark. The fact is that the majority of Radio One's listeners wouldn't want him anywhere near the station - for obvious reasons!

Whether it's rumours or become true. If Global / Capital are too have a national breakfast show the story will cause DJ's to worry whether they will have a job in the new year. Obviously this story will give Capital publicity, and Moyles agent is talking with the BBC and Global to get the best deal. Radio 1 don't really want to lose him.

So, er, why the speculation Mark?

He'll only leave Radio One when he's pushed, so who cares about those tinpot commercial networks? Nobody listens to them anyhow!

I think Heart would be a great network for Evans' particular brand of breakfast show. Why? Because I never listen to any of Heart's supposedly "local" stations but from all accounts they're pretty dire at breakfast. So, both the Heart network and Evans are well suited to other. A match made in heaven?

You should put that to Digital Spy, and see how many so called "Tin Pot commercial DJ's respond to you. Some wouldn't be best pleased with that.

I don't bother with Digital Spy because I think it's rubbish. However, I'd love the opportunity to spar with some of those tinpot commercial DJs, especially the dorks who present on stations like Heart! They're useless! Smile

Chris Evans seems to pop up in every thread about some other subject in the radio section. We know some of you have a personal hate towards the guy. This isn't really the place to keep on ranting about the same old thing. Move on

Can't be useless - In London - Heart, Magic and Capital have good ratings - I don't know about out of London.

This thread is really in the wrong section. Radio 1 is over the road, and Capital is down in Leicester Square. Laughing

Heart is now one big homogenised brand (or should that be "bland"???). Slightly different design box but exactly the same cornflakes inside - and the others like ("sickly") Smooth and C(r)apital will follow down the same route. You just wait and see!

Anyhow, what does supposed popularity say about their listeners? To me, it says that people are content with the same old fodder. In fact, that's my argument with Awful Evans, too, given that R2 is going down that same dangerous road of lowest-common-denominator programming to please the masses.

This move is actually a good one for Moyles personally. Hell disappear off the RADAR and everyone will stop saying how disappointing his efforts are at competing with Radio 2s Captain Chris. Moyles is effectively self-relegating to the footballing equivalent of NPower League 2. Who talks about that?!

Chris Moyles should leave according to Chris Evans whilst speaking to Richard Bacon on his Five Live Show.

I think that's a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black!

I do listen to Moyles regularly (he used to work on our local ILR station, which is now part of the BlandFM network).

I think that if he talked less and played some more decent music he'd inspire me to listen more.

What I do like is his self-depracating style and the fact that he will always intentionally throw in comments that make him look a buffoon. I like that.

He also went up, in my estimation, when he did his "Who do you think you are?" family history programme. We got to see the real Chris Moyles, I feel. My friend Big George, who did the music for "Have I got News for You" and who now does a graveyard-shift talk show on BBC London, knows Moyles well and says he's a really decent bloke.

Anyway, as breakfast DJs go Moyles is much, much better than Evans in my opinion. Much better.

He'd be daft to throw in Radio One, but I guess he feels that if he's not going to hang on to breakfast then there's little chance is sticking around. Maybe the decision had already been taken by the time of his recent on-air rant.

I was listening to the end of his show whilst sitting in the dentist's waiting room this morning (preparing myself for the removal of two molar teeth!!!). His banter with Fearne Cotton is always entertaining - and she can give as good as she gets.

I like Fearne, too.

But Fearne - don't ever contemplate a move to Radio Two anytime soon. You're better than that!

I see Evans is suggesting that it's "time to move on" for Chris Moyles after his tirade about the BBC not paying him on time.

I wish Evans would shut up. More than that, I feel that it's time for him to move on from Radio 2. He's an irritating berk.

Colin why on earth have you posted the link to the piece if you want Chris to shut up
You are providing free advertising for him
Have you taken leave of your senses!

Is there an echo in here? Laughing

*****************

I don't know. I think the rule "No publicity is bad publicity" applies.
It made Moyles interesting again and will probably have boosted audience figures, as everyone waits to hear if there's any repetition.

If Chris Evans is an irritating berk, Moyles is a boring one. My son (22) likes neither; he usually has Radio 1 on in his car, but not when Moyles is on. It's difficult to argue with a RAJAR figure of 7.8 million, but it is also hard to understand what they see in him, and harder still to see how he fits with the rest of Radio 1's output and demographic.

My 26-year-old son doesn't like Moyles either, but my 30-year-old daughter loves him.

I like him because he has a sense of humour even though he can go on a bit. One of the many reasons I dislike Evans so much is that he appears not to have a sense of humour at all.

I should add that I don't listen to Moyles that often, but when I do I usually end of laughing at his own self-mockery. Of course, what I'd really like is a BBC national network breakfast show whose presenter had a good, self-depracating, sense of humour, good musical knowledge, played a good selection of music that didn't always contain the same old standards, and could interact with guests intelligently and who didn't shout down the microphone assuming that I'm either deaf or stupid.

Sadly, I don't get this on either Radio One or Radio Two.

When it comes down to it, I can tolerate Moyles whilst I simply cannot tolerate Evans at all. That's why I conclude that Moyles is, for me, the better broadcaster by a mile.

Chris Moyles lost 600,000 listeners. One reason is because listeners don't want to wake upto someone ranting on and on & moaning most mornings. The speculation for him leaving Radio 1 dosn't mean people are tuning out. Thats the Mail starting something again.

You can't have it both ways MarkO - you state that he has lost 600k listeners but go on to comment that people aren't "tuning out". They are!
