Defence cuts have been announced by the government. Two Aircraft Carriers are still going to be built, but one of them may not even reach the ocean as it will either be moth balled or sold off. RAF and Navy will lose personal and civillan staff will also be cut. These cuts are needed, But at the end of the day we shouldn't be mopping up other countries mess.

Mark, we know. Honest. It's been on radio and TV all day and all evening.
Anyhow, I haven't a clue what you mean in your last sentence but I won't lose sleep over it. |

I agree that it is not Britain's job to mop up other peoples messes but during the Blair period unfortunately we were instrumental in creating the messes in Iraq and Afghanistan which in turn has put all our citizens at greater risk
Blair deserves our utter contempt and the present government is now faced with mopping up HIS mess! _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

What do you mean, you havn't got a clue. In another sentence cleaning up other countries arguments and wars. It's costing britian millions each day keeping our troops in Afghanistan. We should pull out and leave them too it. |

What I mean is that I don't have a clue what you mean - and I still don't! |

So, to sum up the defence cuts:
We're going to bin the only fixed wing assets capable of going to sea and the platform capable of carrying them, keeping the only helicopters that can't go to sea*, and keeping an aircraft carrier that won't have any fixed wing assets embarked on it - possibly ever.
Just as well Britain is not an island. Oh, wait....
