Sounds good to me.. I've been spending a lot of time recently listening to a Big Band & Swing station and thoroughly enjoying it and I agree with Len.. my foot hasn't tapped so much in years! Great music unlike the bland garbage usually on daytime 2.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
I have heard how radio should be. |

Should be fun. Joe Loss, Edmundo Ros, Ray McVay, Syd Lawrence, Victor Sylvester.
All together now, slow, slow, quick, quick, slow.
Now, what time is that likely to go out? Eleven? Eleven thirty? Zzzzz. _________________ Ron |

I hope it's not just music played by the 'strictly' orchestra.
If it's Len's favourite music it should include Joe Loss, Victor Silvester, Ken Macintosh, Edmundo Ros etc.
Edmundo Ros is still alive! He'll be 100 on December 7. _________________ -

No doubt it'll be in the 22.00 slot Monday or Tuesday for an hour.
Complementing the songs and illustrating the dancing years that have taken him from his grandfather's grocer's shop to dinner with Tiger Woods in Los Angeles, Len has a fund of stories – both funny and poignant – that look set to make him a firm favourite with Radio 2 listeners.
Oh dear. Part of Len's attraction is his off-the-cuff ad-libbing; I can just imagine what it's going to sound like, scripted. _________________ Ron |

Says in the article... "Len will be dipping into his treasured record collection and playing classic dance music tracks from the past 50 years."...,,so doesn't sound as if it will be the Strictly orchestra. |

I wonder if Len could be persuaded to include some from the last 80 years? That would please many fans of the late great Malcolm Laycock who was “ordered” to cease devoting the first half of his Sunday night programme to dance band music.
Still angry on his behalf about how he was treated by Radio 2 Management. |

It’s quite likely that it will be on between 05:00 and 06:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It’s just what the early morning truck drivers need. |

Starts next Tuesday 10.00pm
Not quite what I was hoping for:
".... sharing poignant and funny stories with the Radio 2 listeners.
.... In episode one, Strictly Ballroom, Len waltzes, tangos, foxtrots and quicksteps through music by artists such as Sammy Davis Jr, Dinah Washington, Robbie Williams, the Joe Loss Orchestra, Van Morrison and Nat King Cole.
.... why he bribed the spotlight operators in a big competition;
..... and how he first discovered the music of Paolo Nutini".
The only on-topic words words there are Joe Loss _________________ -

I saw him on BBC Breakfast on Saturday promoting his Radio 2 show. He was also on Steve Wright show the other week, then on Thursday 11/11/10 promoting his R2 show, which was also recorded the same day he was on the previous week. Yet again Steve can't do live interviews. |

I'm sure he can, but I'm also sure the programme producer likes to cut them down to the bone in order to keep the show "pacey and edgy" (and boring). |
