I do hope so.
Personally I have had a very difficult/stressful week at work so listening to Richard for 3hrs in the early hrs of Saturday morning will be a great leveler.
Are pickets normally active in the middle of the night. I hope not. |

I don't see why he wouldn't cross any picket line as he is not a journalist and certainly not a member of the NUJ union
I suppose its down to every individual to make their own choice but I really cannot see why there should be a problem
Unless of course I'm missing something obvious _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

What picket line. It's hardly the coal miners strike and double crossing Arthur Scargill. Yes correct he's not a journalist, like most of the broadcasters at Radio 2. |

Actually, Mark, you don't know whether he's a card-carrying member of the NUJ or not. He might be, or he might not be. However, it's only an issue if he is. |

Did anyone hear the news bulletin with Colin Berry at 3am this morning.
He suddenly said he could not breath and that he needed a drink of water.
Richard asked him "shall we send a nurse round".
Hope the poor chap is ok now. |

Can you please translate the term "3am"? What is it exactly? |

Colin-In answer to your question "On both a Saturday and a Sunday morning, the best time of the week on Radio 2 as far as I am concerned, as the best DJ in the UK is rocking the airwaves". |

But "3am"? I didn't know such a time existed! |

Re the 3am Colin Berry incident this morning, I did have to laugh, with regard to the various females writing into Richard's show saying they would be happy to dress up in their nurses uniform to look after him
Richard was putting his own spin on all this which was equally amusing. |

He's not be a journalist in the sense that he doesn't write content for BBC News Online or read/present TV or radio news bulletins. But it could be argued that any broadcaster at the BBC is effectively a journalist.
It should be pointed out that the NUJ isn't restricted to just those working in BBC News, although a high proportion of the BBC's journalists are NUJ members (I've heard 70-80% being mentioned before).
The dispute is about a pension scheme which effects all BBC staff, so an NUJ member in any department could take part in the strike. There are reports that some BECTU members haven't crossed the picket line despite the fact that BECTU is one of the unions which accepted the change.
BECTU have also said that, while BECTU members should be working as normal, they will support any member who chooses not to cross the picket line.
(BECTU being union which represents the BBC's broadcasters/producers/technicians etc). _________________ Fred Hart

I take the point Fred but as they say the proof of the pudding is in the eating and Richard turned up for his shift as usual
Sounds like a very strange show from previous postings _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Great to hear ELP's 'Hoedown' this morning. Hearing that put me in a really good mood to face work! I remember Desmond Carrington playing that a few years ago on his Music Goes Around show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peXiOeUip9M _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

She's been on Saturday and Sunday evenings on BBC News 24 for the last few weeks. |
