It’s like big brother. I’ve just noticed this over the past few days.

I did some on line shopping in John Lewis yesterday- this morning while viewing you-tube- the moving advert was for John Lewis and exactly the products I bought and some others I just looked at. This afternoon I was browsing the New Look site, and just now when I look at you-tube the advert is for new look – and again the products I looked at.

How do I stop this- it’s annoying me?

It’s no good showing me an advert for something I’ve just bought!

It's getting to me too. Like you, I (or rather Mrs W) had bought clothing somewhere.

I was on Digital Spy site and trying to post a reply but this vertical ad kept getting in the way of where I was typing. Eventually I had to click the corner bit 'why are you seeing this ad?' and eventualy a page came up where I could 'remove ads from whatever' ,,,

... but later ANOTHER ad for something else came up with nowhere to click.

Mad

Rachel - bear in mind that YouTube is owned and operated by Google, and information about your browsing habits is collected and used "intelligently" across its various web platforms.

It's no wonder the traditional commercial TV networks are losing revenues from the sale of ye olde spot ads. It's all about targeting, monitoring and delivering.

John - Digital Spy is no good for you!

I guess they have to make money somehow. Sad I do use google a lot.

The problem is, if hubby looks at you-tube tonight, he'll see his birthday pressy in an advert, that'll remind him that he wants one, and he may buy it - so he'll end up with two.

The feeling is that the blank areas on each side of the dire new BBC message boards has been left there to accomodate adverts.

I don't get any adverts on youtube - my Norton Security or Firefox Adblocker, or both, must block them.

However, although I booked our holiday last week over the phone (landline, well, cable), I had performed searches on the Lake District and Wales Tourist Board websites to find suitable accommodation with availability between 8th and 14th Nov. On returning home I did a 1471 on the telephone and was slightly surprised to find that no-one had rung since the 8th - usually we get at least one, rogue, TPS-busting, marketing call from some overseas organisation, per day.
