They obviously were awaiting Chris Evans to sign it off before confirming her appointment.

I also note that we also have to put up with her during JV's holidays, bloody hell is there nobody better?

Another good reason to avoid the station almost completely.

I know it's hard to break the habit of a lifetime but is it really necessary to have two (or more) threads running about the same subject all the time?

Does Vanessa know anything about music?-who will be picking the music?

Will she be driving the desk?

On what possible grounds has she been selected to get this gig on Radio 2.

I note she is going to be Vine's deputy. Does that mean that she could be on 5pm with the early show then back at 12 o'clock midday if Vine is away.

What does this mean for other regular covers like Matthew Bannister who often cover for Vine. I have to say that I think Matthew Bannister is an excellent cover replacement for Vine.

VF won't be able to do her own BBC London show if she covers for JV.

Why does she have to know anything about music? Loads of R2 presenters know sod all about music. And why does she have to drive the desk? I don't see why either of these is relevant.

Not that I'll be listening - I can't stand the woman.

You have hit the nail on the head Colin.

The major problem with Radio 2 is too many presenters who know very little about music.

For exactly those reasons I only listen to shows where the music played is considered important.

How on earth does anyone know if Vanessa doesn't know anything about music? I wish people stop judging her before she's started. Give her time to settle into the show.

I do, of course, agree with you. My remark was somewhat tongue-in-cheek anyway. It annoys me intensely when presenters know nothing about - or even appear to care about - the music they're including.

I hadn't thought about it much before but I guess that's pretty much what I do, too.

Certainly none of the day time presenters give a monkey's about the music played.

They like the sound of their own voices more than anything else.

It's a very poor state of affairs imho.

The producer chooses the majority of the music Mark, so it will depend on who he or she is.

Lets hope its Gary Bones because that wayit'll kill two birds with one stone and I can avoid both Ms Feltz and Gary at a time I won't be listening

Can't see him giving up the Bruce show though
After all he's gone up in the world since he got the title of Executive Producer Sad

It dosn't matter if the producers pick the music which is played on the shows. I'm asking a question, and people are persuming that " Vanessa " no's nothing about music. How on earth does anyone know this? Yes the daytime presenters do know there music too.

I disagree Mark

The dreaded ginger one admits himself he knows nothing about music and neither does Steve Wright

Ken Bruce and Jeremy Vine both have some knowledge but are hardly experts

The most knowledgeable daytime presenter has to be Simon Mayo but even he does not always put his vast knowledge on display for the benefit of listeners

For a so called music station its a very poor show and it will get worse when the dreaded Feltz arrives
All presenters who display musical knowledge and competence are being sidelined in favour of these awful celebrities and the station is going totally in the wrong direction and is becoming out of touch with a sizeable proportion of its natural audience

I'd say Ken is equal to Simon with his music knowledge Ruddles. Jeremy isn't bad on his either.

Helen I agree Ken has a reasonable knowledge but it tends to be when he is involved in specialist items like Popmaster or Tracks of my Years but I agree he's generally OK

As for Jeremy he knows quite a lot about the music he likes but I've heard him from time to time having to ask listeners to e mail him about certain musical items where he can't recall the artist's name or certain other details
However as he fronts a mainly news programme I can live with that
I still think Simon has the best knowledge but for some reason he does not show it as much as he did on Radio 1
Perhaps being on 5 Live for too long has taken its toll Sad

So we should all tune to alternative stations on the 16th, I assume.

I'm willing to give the show a try, it can't be a lot worse than the fill-ins and their texting/emails we have had since SK 'left' in my view. She might have something interesting to say Very Happy

I certainly won't be tuning in

As I may have mentioned before I have met the woman and she is an absolute bitch

She'll probably get on rather well with that ginger imbecile who follows her

I never really warmed to Simon Bates but I guess I'll just have to live with him Sad

It's hardly new. Anyhow, don't blame technology - it's the uncreative idiots who rely on it that are to be blame.

I doubt I'll hear the show, because I am seldom awake at that time these days. If they had to go with a presenter with a speech radio background, I'd have much prefered Gabby Roslin who presents the BBC London breakfast show. I think she is a good presenter & would do fine on the job.
As to Ms feltz, she will need to slow down considerably on her current rate of speech-it is not really necesary to talk at a thousand words a minute. Less words said slower would be good- especially on a music orientated radio station like Radio 2.

She should get on well with Zoe Ball then!

Still cannot understand how the Veltz woman landed this gig.
