Yes, there are more enjoyable alternatives to R2's breakfast-time trash!

I heard this on Radio 4's "Today" programme this morning and thought it was quite amusing, although other listeners (those who take things far too seriously) claimed to be offended at the manner in which Mr. Naughtie mispronounced Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt's surname. I'll leave it to you to work it out.

Here's the story: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-11925556

He did actually apologise at around 8.20am. No big deal. Some people really should get a life! (To use a favourite expression from the R2MB). Smile

I suppose he probably thought that it was about time he started living up to his name Smile

The descent into a coughing fit was funny too - and the way one of the guests later on referred to it (as a "bloob", then a "boob") - and he made a final apology before 9am.

Happened just before the 8am news if anyone's Listening Again.

Looking on the bright side at least with all the publicity perhaps quite a number of listeners will switch from Radio 2 over to Radio 4 tomorrow thus making a hole in the audience figures for the Great God of Radio 2

What is it they say about clouds and silver linings Confused

It was him stifling his laugh that I found the funniest Laughing

Also after the Today program was Andrew Marr's start the week. He said he could not possibly repeat what Naughtie had said then seconds later did just that. Laughing

And then there was apparently a bogus interviewee on "The World At One", pretending to be a Liberal MP.... a good day for R4, all in all.
