I'd never have got that without all those clues.
Here is the next link:
Incense and Peppermints – Strawberry Alarm Clock
Subterranean Homesick Blues – Bob Dylan
Ride on Time – Black Box |

Nothing comes to mind immediately but I'm thinking
Peppermints Black Box Time
After Eight Mints or some link with chocolate?
Don't see how the second track fits in though so I won't hold my breath
I suppose you could be sick if you ate too many _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

No, Ruddles, it's nothing to do with chocolate or After Eights. As a chocoholic I like your thinking though.
I'll give you a little hint - remember that alternate spellings of words may be used. |

Guess what I had for dinner yesterday Angel - fish with dill sauce!
And then I woke up about 2 am this morning and thought MINT DYL TIME
thats it - the link is herbs
Don't you think that might be telepathy
If I'm right I 'll try for the fourth link any of these
Love Grows (Where my Rosemary Goes) - Edison Lighthouse
Lavender Blue - Marillion
Come Back - Jessica Garlick
If not it's back to the drawing board _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Well done Ruddles, that's the correct link, so a pint of Daleside Legover for that. Fish with dill sauce sounds good.
However, you've not got the correct fourth link yet, I'm afraid. |

Over The Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Push It - Salt n Pepa
Wanabee - Spice Girls
Salt Water - Julian Lennon
Message in a Bottle - Police
Messages - OMD
Message Understood - Sandie Shaw
Son of My Father - Chickory Tip
Cumin Up - Paul McCartney?
I think I might have some spices and vegetables in there _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Excellent stuff but I'll have my virtual champagne later if you don't mind because we're having a barbeque here and I'm presently drinking some very mediocre wine
Anyway I promised you a difficult next link and here it is
Shoulda Woulda Coulda - Beverley Knight
The Air That I Breathe - The Hollies
Leave A Light On - Belinda Carlisle
Don't worry - if necessary I'll post some more tracks in the link and give you some more clues
I think if anyone gets this link from the three tracks above I might even drive over and personally deliver a case of champagne _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I can't work your think links out. The first and last I thought could be towns or places with a Minster possibly, but the middle one doesn't fit. I think maybe I should just give up reading this thread because I'll never get it, I am not clever enough! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Don't be silly Angela - of course you're clever enough
It's just a question of getting used to the devious way in which my mind works
This is one of the most difficult links I have done and when I did it in the pub someone eventually got it after five hours and six clues
Have a go Angela - what do you have to lose? _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I did that last night Angela
And then at 2am I suddenly got the answer to Angel's last link
The problem is because I have to do this live at least once a week I'm permanently having to think of new links to use which is why I am very grateful for other people here giving me new ideas with some excellent links and I will certainly be using many of them in the near future
And because the links can rely on different spelling of words my spelling is going right downhill
You've come up with a very credible link but unfortunately it's not correct but start thinking again about how the second track fits in - and don't forget I will give more clues if needed so even if you don't get it now you might do with the extra clues so keep looking _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Very well done Angel - that was really impressive
I think I should get you signed up for MENSA
When I originally did this link live I didn't use the link to Beverley but here I thought it might be too obvious if I used the track 'Salisbury Hill' by Peter Gabriel but clearly I couldn't fool you
When I listened to Popmaster on Ken Bruce this morning and one of the specialist categories was 'Horses for Courses' I thought that would give it away - I don't know whether anyone heard it
Anyway now it's over to you for the fourth track - you've certainly got plenty of choice _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Actually I probably wouldn't have got it if you'd said Salisbury Hill rather than Beverley.
I'll guess
Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses – Thom Yorke
Day Trip to Bangor – Fiddlers Dram |

No sorry it's not any of those tracks or the courses to which they link
I'll leave it open for a few more guesses before I give any further clue _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Actually it was Solsbury Hill, outside Bath near where Peter Gabriel lives, not Salisbury! |

Was it really Schiz - I never knew that but there again I'm not a great fan of Mr Gabriel or Genesis
Still it wouldn't have made any difference because it's the sound of the word which forms the link and not necessarily the correct spelling but thanks for pointing it out anyway _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Great guesses but not correct
It might help you if I tell you that you have not found the right course yet
If necessary I'll give you some other wrong answers so you can narrow it down a bit _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

No sorry Angel and it's not Warwick Avenue by Duffy either
You still need to find the right racecourse
To help you I'll post a list of wrong answers from the live link
WinCHESTER Cathedral - New Vaudeville Band
BRIGHTON Rock - Queen
New Divide - LINKIN Park
I'm doing Fine Now - New YORK City
None of those tracks were correct and none related to the right racecourse
Have another go and if you're still struggling I'll give you a musical clue about the fourth track
I told you this wasn't easy didn't I _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

That's a great answer Angel - nobody else came up with that answer but unfortunately it's not correct
I'll give you a musical clue which might help
I'm looking for a track which was a hit in the mid to late 1980's for a female artist but that was a cover version and for this link I'm needing the original version around twenty five years earlier
You still really need to find the right racecourse _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I'll have to declare myself beaten by this one Ruddles, unless you can give some more clues without giving it away completely.
My brain isn't functioning on all cylinders at the moment as I'm so drugged up with antihistamine with the pollen count being so high, so perhaps I'm just missing something obvious. |

Not a problem I'll give you another clue so at least you can probably identify the racecourse
When you mentioned Dionne Warwick you weren't a million miles away
Actually only about 35!
Get the racecourse and you should then get the track fairly easily
Funnily enough Simon Bates played the 1988 cover version on the Golden Hour today but I expect you might struggle to get Smooth Radio in the Yorkshire Dales
I can just see you there scanning a road map of the Midlands right now _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Well done Angel - I told you you'd get it straight away once you knew the racecourse
For three and a half years I used to live right next door to Leicester Racecourse and some thirty five years later I still maintain a record of never having lost a bet on any race at Leicester
Anyway over to you - I suspect you might want to get your own back _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |
