Well Angel I think Graham did the spadework on this one mentioning McFly and I really only added the likely track details so if Graham wishes to set the next link then that's fine by me

I'll leave it a couple of days and then if Graham hasn't posted anything I'll come up with a new link Smile

Ruddles. I think I'll pass on setting this time although I'll try to work one out for a future date.

That's fine Graham - have a think about it
In the meantime I think this one is quite tricky

What a Difference a Day Makes - Esther Phillips
Combined Harvester - The Wurzels
You Wear it Well - Rod Stewart

I'll be amazed if anyone gets this without further clues and let me warn you that one of the clues involves some real lateral thinking but I know you lot relish a challenge Laughing

I'll give you some time for thought but with further clues you'll probably find it quite easy Smile

I can see you're struggling a bit on this one so a couple more tracks for you to help

The Tracks of My Tears - Smokey Robinson and the Miracles
Requiem - The London Boys

Although I don't mean to be impolite I did wonder whether it might have been helpful to you by way of a clue if I had done the original post in block capitals Smile

Is it record labels?
Philips, Harvest, Track, London, not sure about the other one though.

Very well done Schiz absolutely right

Just to put your mind at rest you needed to be thinking individual letters in the third clue

You WEAr it well - WEA records probably most famous for being Madonna's label for all her big 80's hits

And I take it you got the block CAPITOL clue Laughing

Anyway it's now open to guesses for the fourth track so best of luck Smile

All great guesses Angel but sadly incorrect Sad

I'll allow a bit more time for further guesses before I post some of the wrong answers from when I did this link live although actually most of them have already been mentioned on here

Really inspired guesses Schiz but still not the right answer

But keep trying as I sure you'll get there eventually and if nobody has guessed it by this time tomorrow I'll post a further clue Smile

No sorry Graham a great guess again but incorrect - I'll give it until 10pm tonight when I will post a selection of further wrong answers to narrow it down a bit with a clue to the right answer but in the meatime people can keep on guessing Smile

Sorry I'm a little late (I got stuck on the phone Rolling Eyes ) but as promised I'm going to post some wrong answers from when I did this link live a few weeks ago

This is not an exhaustive list but none of the labels referred to are correct so it might help to concentrate minds

Steady as She Goes - The RAConteurs
CHINA In your Hand - T'Pau
UNIVERSAL Soldier - Donovan
I AM I Said - Neil Diamond
ROCKET - Herbie Hancock
MOTOWN Junk - Manic Street Preachers
Secret Lovers - ATLANTIC Star
Here Comes the SUN - The Beatles
Stutter Rap - Morris MAJOR and the MINORS

And can you believe it some clever dick even came up with The Creation by Haydn - as I pointed out a bit outside the 50 year deadline Laughing

The track you are looking for was the only Top Twenty record for a Scottish band in the first half of the 1980's but the record label to which it links was based a bit further south Smile

No sorry Angel - I assume you were suggesting a link to the Bell label but it's not the right one

The track I'm looking for was a big hit in 1983 and the band came from Perth and the label was one of the best known in England a few years ago Smile

Got there in the end! That was a very difficult one.

I think this is a bit easier:

Tease Me – Chaka Demus and Pliers
The Legend of Xanadu - Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mitch & Titch
Hats Off to Larry - Del Shannon

Smile

I presume you meant to post 'Mick' rather than 'Mitch' Angel?

Bit of an initial long shot - anything to do with ventriloquists or their dummies?

No, nothing to do with ventriloquists I'm afraid.

Tease, Dee and Shannon - Rivers?

It suddenly clicked with me that I had done the same link when I was going through my book of old links from about a year ago but I did not use any of the three tracks you posted

Needless to say assuming I am right I've got a ready made long list of possible fourth track options Laughing

That's right, Ruddles. I'll have to think up some more difficult ones.

I don't expect you'll have any trouble with the fourth track.

First of all I'll try the four tracks I used for this link

Chasing Rainbows - Shed SEVEN
More Than Words - EXtreme
I wonder WHY? - Showaddywaddy

And the 4th track was

I Love my Radio - TAFFy

Here's some more guesses courtesy of the audience

Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town - Kenny Rogers and the FOURTH edition
Wishing Well - Terence TRENT Derby
Ferry Cross The MERSEY - Gerry and the Pacemakers
Fog on the TYNE - Lindisfarne
You WEAR it Well - Rod Stewart
Blue Eyes - DON Partridge
Ballad of Bonnie and CLYDE - Georgie Fame
S TAY - The Hollies
You CAMe - Kim Wilde
When DOVEs Cry - Prince
Sight for SORE Eyes - M People
Ace of SPAdes - Motorhead

And my personal favourite which had me laughing

W HO'S Leaving Who - Hazell Dean (you've got to think about that one Smile )

If none of those are correct just to narrow it down have I hit on the correct river Confused

No, none of those Ruddles. Just a hint- it's not necessarily a UK river.

I'm afraid I don't get the Hazell Dean track Confused

I think the person who came up with it was thinking in a particular northern accent

Ouse leaving Who - isn't it a river somewhere in Yorkshire? Confused

Anyway if we're taking about rivers abroad I'll have to have a further think but initially I'll try

RHINEstone Cowboy - Glen Campbell
POker Face - Lady Gaga
MISSISSIPPI - Pussy Cat
Pick Up the Pieces - HUDSON Ford
ZAMBESI - The Piranhas

Thank goodness for that Angela

My regular audience are mostly completely mad but in a very intelligent way if you know what I'm saying

Sometimes I think it would be nice to shove some of them in the Cabinet Laughing

You've got it Ruddles, Rhinestone Cowboy was what I had in mind. I wish I'd thought of POker Face though, that's very clever.

Great stuff and I think it's time to give you all a somewhat easier link so hope you like it

Bat Out of Hell - Meat Loaf
The Tears I Cried - The Glitter Band
Common People - Pulp

Not too difficult methinks Smile

Very good Angel - I thought you deserved an easier one after a some of the recent brain busters

I doubt you'll have any problem at all with the fourth track - in fact I bet you've already thought of it Laughing
