Loved this year's offering ....laughed out loud in parts...Joanne Froggart fitted nicely into the household as Anthony's girlfriend.

Yes we loved it, too. In fact, it's one of only 3 or 4 TV programmes we've watched over the festive break, but well worth it.

No need to be sorry. Each to his/her own. Personally, I love the observational humour that comes from Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash. And, of course, all the performances are never less than superb. Fabulous.

We loved it...........it is well observed. We really like Ricky Tomlinson and usually enjoy most things that he appears in. Each to their own I suppose! Very Happy

I would never miss The Royle Family and its wonderful observational humour. I do think, though, that it's not so funny as it was ten years ago.

My other favourite is/was Early Doors, also written by Craig Cash and Caroline Aherne of course.

I liked it, too. I used to love the idea of the local coppers coming into the back for a couple of swifties. In the late 70s my wife used to help out in a pub where the local boys in blue used to call in for a quick after-closing-time drink in exactly the same way!

Early Doors didn't get the ratings, I don't think, so wasn't really given the room to develop.

Schizoidman, Early Doors was written by Craig Cash and Phil Mealey - did you see John Henshaw (the landlord) in the Royle Family as Emma's bigheaded dad?

He was on Gold's 'Behind the Sofa' documentary discussing this - the production crew all had T-shirts with 'Roger, my arse!' on re: this episode.

His name along with others was on the writing credits for this edition of The Royle Family too...and he played Duffy, Joe's (Craig Cash) mate in Early Doors.......loved that!
