I gather that Patricia Hewitt has now said that the GP pay issue wasn't handled properly and left too much scope for huge increases.

As Miss Hewitt is Secretary of State for Health, will she be resigning now?

She is probably trying to negotiate the same deal for herself now.

Sounds ideal doesn't it, less hours, no evenings, nights or weekends, and you can do the locum bit as well if you want to get paid extra for the work you just got paid more not to do !. Shocked

Dentists going private all over the place, PCTs telling doctors they can't refer patients for physio to save them money, a general lack of GPs in outlying areas - covered at times by locums from in some cases 75 miles away (Sutherland) or a 24-hour phone line (Wester Ross), 'superbugs' killing people who go to hospital to get better - Anuerin Bevan will be spinning in his grave. Rolling Eyes
