This book by Arnold Bennett was serialised very well, although much compressed, in two parts on Radio 4, finishing yesterday (Sun 13th March).

My only gripe was that Willie Price's suicide was flagged up at the start of episode one, whereas in the book, which I read a couple of years ago, it came as a shock and was very moving on the last page.

Did anyone else who had read the book listen to it?
