This show should be on BBC Radio 2.

Seconded!

On the BBC Radio Oxford message board a message has been posted by "the management" advising that Allinsons Albums is also going out as a repeat programme at 5pm each and every Sunday.

Excellent, this is the type of show that should be on R2 on a Sunday at that time.

Great music today, by the way - as usual!

Andy couldn't agree more about today's music, it's great. Especially the Beautiful South, ELO and Beatles 3 in a row.

Hi Andy and Helen-Could not agree more.

Absolutely a brilliant show with fantastic music chosen/played and presented by the best DJ in the UK.

This show would be brilliant on BBC Radio 2 as you say perhaps going out at 5pm on a Sunday.

Johnnie walker is a hero. He's not broken yet or need removed. Can't wait for him on breakfast this week.

Please Mark could you stop trying to replace every broadcaster on R2 with Richard Allinson.

Don't forget to tune into Allinsons Albums this Saturday at 12 o'clock on BBC Radio Oxford.

There is nothing else on the radio worth tuning into at this time of the day.

Interesting to see that Richard prepared for his daily show in Studio 1 today and is now delivering the show from Studio 2.

Much better web-cam in Studio 2.

Heard the previous presenter advising Richard was "having technical difficulties/shouting at the equipment".

Nice to see a true professional at work trying to ensure he delivers the best show he possibly can.

Richard Allinson rocks.

Not to mention all the stuff from all over the world online - and what about the Podcasts? Podcasts are fab.

When there's rubbish on Radio 2 (such as at Drivetime or when Jeremy Vine has another of his stupid listener vote farces) there's thousands of alternatives. So much so that it makes you realise that - with a few valuable exceptions - Radio 2 isn't actually much cop at all much of the time!

Another great show delivered by Richard Allinson on BBC Radio Oxford today.

This show should be brought to BBC Radio 2.

Really enjoyed Allinsons Albums earlier today.

Had forgotten what a great album Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys is.

With Simo Mayo and his album show now axed on Radio 2 why not bring Allinsons Albums to Radio 2-it would make excellent listening-would like to see this show go out at 12 o'clock midday as it does now on Radio Oxford.

Then it could be followed by Stuart Maconie as is now.

Looks like this week's edition of Allinson's Albums is pre-recorded-the chair in both of the Oxford studios is empty. Shame.

Normal service hopefully restored next week.

Good to see that weeks Allinsons Albums is live this week.

A much better show when it is live than being precorded.

Nice to see you Richard on the webcam in Studio 1 of the Radio Oxford studios.

This show is now regularly precorded about an hour before we get to hear it.

Does being precorded reduce in any way the quality of this show.

I don't think so as I've got used to it now. What does anyone else think.

Good point and indeed why record it about an hour before we get to hear it.

Live is certainly better-I've always thought that about all shows that go out on the radio.

Anyone tuning in for Allinsons Albums on Saturday 21st July on BBC Radio Oxford will have been very disappointed as they instead decided to run a programme about the floods/bad weather affecting Oxfordshire. Insread we were advised tune in to Allinsons Albums on Sunday 22nd at 5pm.

Unfortunately I could not listen live at that time so decided to try the Listen Again feature yesterday but sadly this was not working last night.

Thank heavens for BBC Radio York whose Listen Again feature is working fine.

Thanks for that Mark.

I did tune in on Saturday, not at the start, and wondered what had happened, and if Richard was stuck in the floods himself!

If you did read about the listen again facility they have had problems with it over the last few weeks. It wont harm you missing a few shows. Anyway reporting on the floods to give people local information was important and is still at this present time.

I have noticed that there have been lots of tweaks to the "Listen" feature as used by BBC Radio of late. Previously, the auto-capture program would often chop of the tops or tails of a program, whereas they seemed to have solved that by dual stream capture, enabling them to automatically capture just before the beginning and just after the end of a transmission in such a way as to preserve the whole programme itself.

It seems that either the software or the server software has been playing up hugely of late, since many programmes are not being captured properly. This is affecting the whole of BBC Radio's output, not just R2, so let's hope the contractor gets it sorted soon. It is obviously a major glitch.

Hi FF

Strangely the topping and tailing doesn't work on the JV show as you nearly always miss the first few seconds of the show.

Also oddly, (and I'm not complaining here), even when a programme has been unavailable on Listen Again in the past few weeks, it has been available on my internet radio.........

Obviously they used different methods.

Mark O-Richard's show on a Saturday has been sacrificed quite a few times lately on Radio Oxford-I'm not happy about that.

Don't see why it should always be that show. Allinsons Albums is part of my weekend.

I notice they sometimes chop the start of some shows. I wonder if this is caused by some of the shows over run during the day?

It's very rare Mark, you nearly always get a bit of the previous show or part of a news bulletin if it starts right after one.

Good to see Richard Allinson delivering this Satudays 4/8 Allinson's Albums show live-much better than the pre-recorded shows we have been getting of late.

Fantastic musical selection on today's show.

Enjoyed Allinsons Albums earlier today.

One point though. Richard is currently on holiday so the show was pre-recorded.

How does Richard asking for us to e-mail in regarding voting for 3 of the best from an album he chooses to play-today the Beach Boys -Pet Sounds, work in practice.

This is the ONLY and BEST show to listen on a Saturday lunchtime-tune in-you won't be disappointed.

The music is so much better than the rubbish Jonathan Ross plays.

I don't listen to the show so I don't know for sure, but it could be that the particular part of the show is left as an opt-out in the playout system. It's possible that the shortlisted tracks are all loaded, and then at the point where a decision is made, the T/O (tech operator) running the system at transmission, simply drops in the changes into the running order on the computer and that's what gets played.
