Whilst going through my record collection recently I came across the above.

Gave it a listen and wow it stills sounds fantastic.

Whatever ever happen to this group-are they still going-Google is not very informative about their current wherabouts/news etc.

Too "bloody well right" it sounds fantastic Cool I must dig it out myself one day soon. The Retrospectacle CD compilation was fair enough, but there's nothing like the original individual LPs (Crime... Crisis?... and ...Quietest Moments, anyway) to get the full benefit of their pomp and great musicianship.

Alas I know no more than you about anything current. The official website is dormant, Rick Davies oversaw the compilation and his company appears to own all the rights. Roger Hodgson has played some of the material live and a concert DVD was mooted but it has come to nothing.

The sleeve notes on respecatcle seemed to indicate that wasit, all over.

Favourite track - Goodbye Stranger, love the manic guitar at the end.

Now I'm leavin', got to go........

Supertramp - love them.

They seem to have a current website Supertramp.com
I used Wikipedia, gives quite recent information.
Last saw them at Reading, a lifetime ago.

I don't really know ST's work - but I was given 'Retrospectacle' and really enjoyed: My Kind Of Lady, Take The Long Way Home and Ain't Nobody But Me

There's lots of Supertramp tracks that I like, but away from the singles / well known stuff, tracks I seek out on the Retrospectacle Anthology or another 'best of' compilation I bought before the former came out are 'School', 'Sister Moonshine', 'Hide In Your Shell'. On Breakfast In America 'Child Of Vision' is a favourite too.

Which album would you recommend first?

(Listening Again to Stuart Maconie playing "The Logical Song" as I'm typing this! Smile )

I've got several Supertramp albums ( on vinyl ) and keep meaning to get them out to listen to. Their best tracks are the longer ones IMHO, like Even in the Quietest Moments.

I was lucky enough to see them at Wembley one time, and their support act was a young chap by the name of Chris de Burgh.

I used to live in the US some years ago and was fortunate enought to see Supertramp play live in Boston.

It was a great show which climaxed with the song Crime of the Century and a film show depicting rolling bars as shown on the album cover of the same name.

'Crime of the century' was their best album, but there were good singles after that.

Retrospectacle is a good start (double CD) and is the more recent compilation. It has all but 'Hide In Your Shell' on it, The latter was on 'The Very Best Of' or originally Crime Of The Century.
My thanks to Natasha for recommending 'Ain't Nobody But Me'. That's a good track too.

Carl Verheyen regularly comes over to N Ireland to give guitar workshops - he has been over every summer for the past few years and I believe he has brought over various other band members at different times.
