Isn't she the person I've seen hosting 'Escape to the Country' on BBC2 recently?
I seem to recall she was also on the panel of one of those silly TV talent shows a while ago
I have a feeling she also had some connection with the Spice Girls but I could be wrong _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

At least I think she does have some decent knowledge of music but whether it will extend beyond the early 90s remains to be seen
She can't be any worse than the person she is covering for _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I met Nicki Chapman (she's a friend of a friend - or is it a friend of a friend of a friend?) once a few years back. She's a delightful lady and I have to admit to now having a certain thing about her . As well as being a judge on some of those so-called talent shows, she's also fronted daytime TV shows like "Wanted Down Under" on BBC1 and she does a reasonable job (although her links are a bit cheesy but that's not wholly her fault - more the scriptwriter's).
I don't know how she'll fare on radio - there's the possibility that she'll try too hard like Feltz does - but it will indeed make a welcome change from the current presenter who is just plain awful. |

She was one of the judges (?), if that's what they called themselves, for Popstars, which created Hearsay.

Radio 2 seem to have no regard to there own proffessional DJ's on the station, who have music knowledge. The station will eventually be taken over by celebrities.. |

I think it already has been Mark. The quality, professional presenters are hanging on by their fingertips...... _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

Celebrities and ex-1990s R1 DJs (who have no musical knowledge) |

I heard Nicki mentioning which TV shows she has appeared on like Pop Idol, and also said "I worked in the music industry for a number of years, so I qualify to work on radio 2". Does that mean Simon Cowell will have his own show!! No... Someone is either giving her a script to read out, or she's taking the P.... |

A script! On Radio?! I'm not having that. It's all organic baby! Well, that's what it says here. |

I'm not sure what you're on about Mark (as if that's any surprise!) but what's with the dissing of scripts routine? Brian Mathew works from a script. What's wrong with that?
Anyway, I don't care either way. I like Nikki Chapman. She's my kinda woman. Raarrrrrrrr! |

Nicki has been much, much more listenable than Vanessa. She does need to lose the "I, me, famous people I know/worked with" thing though. Sadly, however, we seem to have kept the same dull/crass features...... _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

Nicki is back in for Vanessa week 30th May. You Vanessa followers won't miss her tones, as she's covering Jeremy Vine that week, but only Tuesday - Friday. |

I've never really heard Vanessa's show so can't really compare the two.
Had to go into work at 6 yesterday and today so listened to Nicki, and while she sounds like a nice person the show just seems to be a load of nothingness to me. |

Listened this morning and she appears to have lost a lot of the pointless "features" but has retained the annoying "Today, we want you to text in and tell us about..." and the "famous people I worked with/know" nonsense.
Agree with Gaz- she sounds quite bland otherwise. _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

Haven't listened to her at all or felt the urge to record an hour of her as I did Sarah K. In fact I haven't had R2 on at all today until 5.45 when I tuned in to Drivetime.
Can't say I've missed it as I've had Kool 98.7 based in Bismarck, North Dakota on for most of the time. Main news on there is it need for sandbags to be made as the Missouri river about to flood just south of there. They were calling for volunteers to make them up and deliver. Some homes may have to be evacuated and they were asking for anyone with space available for people to store their belongings............ Not in the usual manic way Americans tend to deliver news though!
Make a change from the FIFA nonsense.

I think you've got the right idea Helen at least for the next couple of weeks
I listened to Smooth Breakfast and then tuned in to Caroline for a fair slice of the middle of the day and then listened on line to Coast FM in Limassol Cyprus, a station owned and run by David Symonds with no silly banter and great music
I quite like Nikki Chapman but I don't think I could be bothered getting up specially to listen although anything has to be better than that dreadful Feltz woman _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Plus she was playing 90's music during the 2 hour show...( Listen again )
Yet again I say "why couldn't Alex Lester continue until 6.30am? |

I heard her this morning ( Friday 18th Nov ) covering for Vanessa. Did she take the day off due to CIN? Nicki always sounds like she's talking whilst sucking on a boiled sweet. |
