|
|
As some of you who have visited my website before may know, I broadcast regularly for both my local community radio station and 1Radio, an Internet radio station.
Now, I ususally avoid advertising it on here, but I thought some of you might be interested to hear that I have now launched a new page on a websiter called "MixCloud".
Using my MixCloud page, I can upload recordings of my shows - as sort of an iPlayer listen again service.
So if you'd like to listen to my show from this afternoon (and I aim to upload all future shows), then all you need to do is go to http://www.mixcloud.com/fredhart and click on either the Hour 1 or Hour 2 link.
I'm not going to pretend that I'm perfect (as you will hear in the recordings on there now, I do make mistakes) - but all my music is chosen by myself, and I hope you will enjoy the selection of music. I'm no music "expert", but I do enjoy listening to music!
Generally, its pop/rock/oldies genre but I'll sometimes stick the odd track in if I've heard one that I like on some of the more specialist Radio 2 shows.
Do send me your comments but bear in mind that I'm not a "professional" - this is just a bit of fun for a couple of hours a week when I'm not in college!

Well done, Fred. Goodness, what an in-depth news bulletin [at the start] for a local community radio station!
I think you need a baffle (is that the right term?) on the mic and remember that if you move away from it we can't hear you. Apart from such trivial technicalities - I know it's nowhere near as easy as the big-time professionals like R2 make it sound - it's a brilliant show with something for nearly everyone.
Some people here will know Vicky Richardson, who has a regular late-night show, 1-3am(ish!) Wednesday morning, on allfm radio http://allfm.org/ in South Manchester, playing a similar eclectic range of music, new and old. She uses mixcloud as well http://www.mixcloud.com/vickysnightmoves/
She has recently highlighted the fact that most of the funding for these stations has been cut off, and they're having to hand the begging bowl around and get into jumble/record sales to scrape enough to keep going. You could argue that catering for a limited, minority audience is way down the list of council priorities, and if enthusiastic volunteers want to provide the service they should pay for it themselves (like Radio Caroline), but it will be a shame if they all have to close. _________________ Ron |

Thanks!
This show was actually one I did on an Internet radio station, and the news bulletin is one I download from the DJ panel in their website - I'm not sure exactly where it comes from, but its useful!
The ones I do for local community radio don't have news, instead I go out with a microphone and interview a few people! _________________ Fred Hart

I'll have a look at this later Fred, I looked at your website a little while ago!
I sat in on one of Vicky's shows and co presented one with her when she had a Sunday lunchtime slot a few years ago. It was great fun!

I've never heard of Vicky Richardson before; I'll take a listen once Radcliffe & Maconie have finished over on 6 Music. _________________ Fred Hart

Vicky was on the original Radio 2 boards along with quite a few of us from here. I thought she was a member here but can't see her on the list.

She did sign up, H, but obviously thought better of it. I won't speculate why. _________________ Ron |

Well done Fred, really admire you for doing your own show!!!
I think your voice is very clear and can imagine you reading the news on Radio 2.
Thumbs up from me for using "Drip Fed Fred" by Madness as your little theme tune as I love that track.
Also loved the "Multi talented, DJ extraordinaire" trailer which I thought was great lol.
PS Are you sure that Pat Benatar track isn't called "All Fired Up" and not "All Fried Up"? |
