Bank Holiday Special 4-6pm.
Quote: | Tony Blackburn counts down the 30 biggest-selling movie songs of all timeTony Blackburn returns for another special Bank Holiday chart, this time counting down the 30 biggest-selling songs of all time from the movies. Listeners can expect music from across seven decades and a couple of films to crop up more than once during the show.
Using sales data provided by The Official Charts Company, a track is only eligible for this chart if it was recorded specifically for a film. Previously released songs later included on film soundtracks have not been included. The chart is based on physical and download sales, up to and including 27 February 2011. |

What a boring prospect
The BBC has exhausted most of this style of Bank Holiday format
I'd like to see a repeat version of Dale's Groovy Sixties broadcast about three years ago even if it was hosted by someone else
We were promised it at the time but we never got it
It was different from SOTS as all the tracks were listeners requests and almost all were British hit singles _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Oooh, I'm quite interested in this. Could be good fun.
I bet the Top 10 comprises entirely Richard Curtis romcoms and Diane Warren power ballads! |

Ah, but were they written for the films? I don't know.
And I guess Elvis will feature quite a lot. I'm not quite as interested anymore! |

Some were, some weren't. The title song of A Hard Day's Night" (my favourite film of all time) certainly was - Walter Shenson has told of how it came about in a 1990s documentary. |

Quote: | Tony Blackburn returns for another special bank holiday chart on Monday 2nd May between 4-6pm. This time counts down the 40 biggest selling songs by acts who only ever managed one Top 40 hit.
Expect music from across five decades, with a number of charity singles, summer holiday favourites, TV show theme tunes and a few festive tunes cropping up during the show.
Using sales data provided by The Official Charts Company, a track is only eligible for the rundown if it reached the Top 40 and the artist has never since had another single reach the Top 40. Tracks that have been released more than once or that charted on more than one occasion are eligible. The chart is based on cumulative physical and download sales. |
He's also covering for Steve Wright on 29th April 2-5pm... |

So these guys didn't qualify for Tony's show. I think Bing Crosby was the only pre-1950 track featured.
Since the 'chart' was compiled by The Official Charts Company then I'm not surprised, I expect they have never attempted to calculate sales of records by Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Dick Powell.
Looking down the chart it just looked like a regular daytime R2 playlist _________________ -

Not heard the whole show (yet) but the inclusion of S Club 7 for "The Parole Officer" was very odd. |

After 'White Christmas' by Bing Crosby over Easter & 'Do They Know It's Christmas' by Band Aid on the Mayday Bank Holiday, any offers on what the out of season Christmas track will be this time. How about 'Santa's A Scotsman'? Go on Tony, you know you want to!! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Considering he's sitting in for Steve Wright, how about "Stay Another Day" ? |

That will be exciting
Too much TB on R2 already, he hasn't improved since being on R1. |
