I have a Canon 350D with a 300D as back-up (busy saving for a Canon 1DS Mk.II and a 400D as back-up at the moment).
The lens is a Canon L-series Image Stablised f/4.5-5.6 100-400mm - which when taking the crop factor into account with a Canon DSLR, translates to a 160-640mm lens. (Busy saving for a f/2.8 400mm IS so I can bolt a 1.4x or x2 converter on - so equivalent 896 and 1280mm lens - just what I need for marginal weather and smaller targets.) _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Some good kit there - and by the results alone you know how to get the best out of it. Well done.

I presume that everyone who signed up now has Tony's email.
Tony says - disband the Red Arrows? - Not on my Watch! _________________ Over the hill they came....the greatest Army in the World.....The Tartan Army |

Well, Tony's 'watch' won't last much longer, so anything he says in that regard you can take with a pinch of salt. A new broom = all bets are off.
"No plans...." and "fully intend...." aren't exactly airtight phrases, plenty of wiggle-room there. Just as, of course, you'd expect. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Yes it's all spin, close RAF Chivenor, to save money, now it's RNAS Chivenor, close RAF Wattisham to save money, now it's AAC Barracks Wattisham. They closed RAF Scampton to save money and had to re-open it again, they don't save any money overall, just spend less on one budget and more on another. It will just depend on whose budget they need to save money on as to whether the Arrows are disbanded, or not.

I Think, at worst, the Arrows will be moved. After all, you cannot have such a national treasure north of Watford Gap, Can you? _________________ Geddon

Are there still any RAF bases south of Watford Gap? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Yep, I know about those ones - I was thinking about the Reds trying to operate from Halton.
BTW, you missed out Benson and Odiham, unless they've closed them since the last times I visited them.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Did you all get your replies from Tony Blair even before the petition has been closed?

Well, I certainly got a reply from TB - can't remember whether the poll had closed by then or not. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Odiham is still very much open. Those 'wokka-wokkas' still rattle the windows when they fly over!! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Yes it sent before the poll closed. The reply pointed this out. _________________ Over the hill they came....the greatest Army in the World.....The Tartan Army |

That's why I mentioned it.
I think we could also take it that Blair was replying from No10 whilst he was still there, as by the time the petition closes he may no longer be the leader of the Labour party or the Prime Minister.

Dug out some more shots from last year's Windermere Airshow - needless to say I was nowhere near the crowd line for these: I don't usually look for 'air shots' since the last one is more my thing, but they've come out alright I suppose....
