Known as the ghosts of any army regiment it's been reported the MOD' is looking into basing an elite SAS force in London, who would be able to do surveillance operations and be called in moments if there was a terrorist attack. It has moved on from the days of the embassy siege in london when they had time to plan things.

As we know they are based in hereford and can be called in minutes.

So what does everyone think, would this be a good idea?

If HMG are concerned about terrorist incidents in London, then it makes sense to have 22 Rgt a little closer than Hereford (not Hertfordshire, Mark). It takes their small fleet of unmarked Agusta 109 helicopters a little while to fly across, even in an emergency, and their black Discos even longer to drive across on the M4.

On one of the last FAC detachments I attended at a bombing range in Cumbria, two plain black Discos turned up with a whole group of slightly non-military, yet military (if you see what I mean) looking chaps. They were undoubtedly SAS troopers looking for a bit of practice with the laser gear, and their scores with the RAF jets assisting the FAC unit were something else entirely.... wouldn't want to mess with those lads at all! Shocked
