This was a musical adaption of L.P. Hartley's novel. It was well-staged and the boys who portrayed young Leo and his school friend Marcus were excellent.
The onstage pianist kept everything going as it should. However, I did smile at the line 'Grown-ups work in strange ways', as it had me remembering Graham Bonnet singing 'Night Games' on Top of The Pops, and the line 'they get their pleasure in strange ways' being misinterpreted by this young listener as adults being rather close to the inmates of Strangeways prison! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
