Its an even bigger shame that he doesn't get to stand in at breakfast time any more. He was too good last time I suppose! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

A fine stand in performance by Richard on 1st November.
Richard brought with him from his weekend shows one of his favourite current "new spins" -Lana Delray and Video games.
Don't think you would ever hear Steve Wright play a new spin.
Give Richard the Big Show gig on a permanent basis is what I say.
Allinson rocks. |

Are you serious? It's been on the Radio 2 "A" Playlist for weeks - everyone's played it! Ken Bruce is a big fan. |

What, is it a competition now?
I don't listen to Bruce-never ever-can't stand the man.
No wonder people rarely post on this site with posts like yours Ian. |

Sorry Mark, but you wrote it as if Richard had discovered this secret new tune (with a fair bit of disdain for Steve) but that's simply not true. Lana Del Ray is possibly the most manufactured act out there. I wasn't meant to be offensive, just genuinely couldn't tell if you were taking the piss or not. |

Got 'Girl Flu' so missed it as I overslept . May listen again as the playlist looks good, a few tracks I've not heard in a while.

The show was pretty good although TBH anything is better than CE but I really can't see the point of that thing RA does when he draws an imaginary line through a map of the UK.
The first time I heard it I thought it was different and interesting - now it just sounds stupid and smug. |

I can just about stand Richard A for a one show sit-in - a little of him goes a heck of a long way- two days in a row is tantamount to torture. His show is like one of those dolls with a string to pull- no matter how long you leave it under the bed- when you take it out and pull the string, it says the same and sounds exactly the same as it did when you last tried it. |

That makes him popular and doesn't be something he's not. Every broadcaster on Radio 2 has a style, this is why Radio 2 is popular. |

Style?! Well, that's one way to describe it. He's ok doing the graveyard shift ( that'll annoy Alex). Style is : Paul O'Grady, Graham Norton, Tony Blackburn, Terry Wogan.... etc.... R.A is just plain dull , a nice chap , just dull, no spark, nothing to get your teeth into. Luckily, we don't have to suffer him too often. I say we... hubby quite likes him, so I should say, I don't have to suffer him too often. |

I wouldn't describe any of the aforementioned list as having the least bit of 'style' Rach - perhaps with the exception of TB who, like a good wine, seems to have improved with age
The others just spend endless time waffling on about silly subjects often totally unrelated to the music they are playing and clearly the most important thing in life to them is the sound of their own voices
Now had you mentioned the likes of David Jacobs, Alan 'Fluff' Freeman or Kenny Everett I could have agreed with you - those were true style icons with most of the current batch of presenters being at best 'also rans' _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

RA could assassinate The Queen and MM would still be unable to find any fault in anything that he does. It's an unhealthy obsession IMO.
RA is just a DJ, nothing more. The reason why he doesn't get a regular slot is obvious. He is the absolute epitome of the the dinosaur jocks that were ousted from mainstream radio when Bannister took over R1.
He is so old school it hurts. R2 presenters should be there to play good music without promoting themselves but entertaining the listeners at the same time.
Simon Mayo, Ken Bruce - consumnate professionals. How many times do you see these two rubbished on message boards? (apart from by MM that is) . Rarely. That's because SM and KB care about music, they are intelligent, they know how to conduct an interview without asking the interviewee to name their ten favourite butties and most importantly they're not trying to be the star of the show.
RA did that stupid imaginary line through the UK again on Tuesday,at which point I switched off until 9:30. I'd rather work in silence. |

This message put out by Radio 2 from its Facebook page made me laugh....
"*YYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWNNNNNNNN* Richard Allinson here, how are you? Where are you?"
and this made me feel embarassed for him
"Wakey wakey, rise and SHINE,
It's nearly Richard Allinson TIME,
Tell us why you're AWAKE, and we will MAKE,
Our best to KEEP, you from SLEEP.
Please forgive us for this RHYME.
Yes! It's the 3.46 Club." |
