Allinson referred to Ginger having a sore throat (shouting too much, I presume) so he'll be back soon. |

Although I can't stand Gingerknob, I have to admit the music he plays is pretty good, eg today, California Dreaming by the Mamas and Papas, followed by Zep's Rock and Roll. Perfect.
Of course he doesn't choose the music, he's too ignorant, but it surely beats the non stop gay disco and bland garbage that KB is forced to play. |

Pretty standard fare really. Much better 'The Immigrant Song' that I caught some time this afternoon. And even better than that 'You Shook Me All Night Long' by AC/DC on Monday's breakfast show with Richard Allinson! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

The music played would be fine if he didn't talk - or rather shout - all over it _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Sometimes l wonder he's either got a hearing problem or the headphones are turned right down and he dosnt realise that he's SHOUTING? I heard many years ago DJs get regular hearing tests and help towards deaf charitlies ( not being nasty) as they wear headphones quite a lot which can cause problems after a while. |

Mark, he talks in a hyped-up manner when on TV - such as when he's dominating Alex Jones on The One Show - and doesn't wear headphones. I've worn headphone s throughout my career over the last 3 decades (mostly Beyer DT100s like many studios use) and I don't have hearing problems.
Unless my wife needs work doing around the house, that is. |

I do work with someone who shouts whilst talking even when he's right next too you. He can be very off putting. |

One time Captain Shouty amuses me is when he cant actually force himself to stay quiet 'til the end of a trailer that he's playing for some other R2 content, and talks all over that too!
I can almost visualise him pursing his lips and trying hold his mouth closed with his fingers, trying to get to the end of a track. It's especially funny when he plays a classic song that builds to a particularly significant conclusion (rather than a track that just fizzles out), because he just cant find the strength to keep quiet for those last few seconds. I can sense listeners all over the country slumping in their seats as he chips in before the end. .....He got into trouble with listeners this week for talking all over the end of Sinead O'Connor singing nothing Compares to You.
To be fair, I have heard him allow a record to finish a couple of times - and on those occasions he points out to listeners what he's just achieved and pats himself on the back. |

Although I avoid Evans at all times and all costs, I do know what you mean. The guy absolutely hates not being in control 100% and is irritated by anyone or anything that inhibits his ability to talk. On the very rare occasions when I've seen him on The One Show on BBC1, Fridays, you can see him becoming impatient when either Alex Jones or somebody else is talking; he's desperate to interject.
I find that by avoiding him altogether I tend not to get angry - and I prefer it that way! |

I was very annoyed by the Ginger Cretin shouting and 'singing' very loudly over the whole of The Who's excellent 'Pictures Of Lily' last week. Not only is it a song that is hardly ever played by bland Radio 2 but it also shows complete disrespect for the artists/songs/musicians/writers without whom Evans (and others) would not have a job.
As Colin says, this hideous disrespect is echoed on Friday's One Show when he interrupts not only his unfortunate co-host Alex Jones but also the guests who deserve more respect. |

I don't know how you summon the patience to listen!

Could be my imagination but I thought that some of the tracks selected were ones not usually heard on Friday evenings - perhaps down to a different producer _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

They are not chosen by those calling in then ? |

Tracks are chosen by the listeners, who are themselves chosen by the producers, so buck stops with them.
My least favourite music of the week (for a non-specialist show) usually happens in this slot.
Does everyone think they have to pick a piece of MOR cliché in order to get their request played?
I thought Richard did a decent job, as usual. Live chat with the Great Unwashed isn't always easy! |

Whatever criticisms I may have of Zoe - and there are many - I don't think I could ever accuse her of impersonating a man _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |
