|
|
Suddenly and out of the blue early September Mum was diagnosed what appears to be terminal cancer. They are not offering surgery/chemo saying Mum is too weak and yet it seems so far not to have spread and they say it is so slow that Mum may pass away of natural causes/age before it gets her. The Consultant's phrase was "If its not bothering you, we'll not bother it!"
But its still there hanging around in the background whatever we do.
Next week she starts a course of Radio Therapy at a hospital some distance away.
So you can imagine this has my attention and priority and so my radio listening is practically nil...
Hopefully I will post again and I keep hoping for good news... |

My thoughts are with you. I lost my own mother back in May. She also had the 'Big C' even though that was only listed as the secondary cause. I do hope that your mother is around for a while longer yet. But I can imagine what you're feeling from my experience. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Sincerest commiserations GG but try to stay positive and keep the old chin up and I'm sure that you will be a great comfort to your Mum at such a difficult time
I know what you're going through because a few years ago I was faced with making a decision to turn off my Mum's life support machine and not having any siblings to consult it was not easy
Look forward to seeing you back here soon _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Thank you everyone...and I appreciate all the experiences many have also had to face on here and I know I am one of many...
I have had some lovely support from people on line at Digital Spy and here(sometimes better than from people I know)and I know that others have problems too in their lives and you do wonder how much to tell and how much to keep private.
Rightly or wrongly I have been running a blog that is quite explicit and shows my ups and downs(Warts and all)and what Mum is having regarding treatment.
The worst reaction I have had from someone who knew Mum and when things were at their bleakest after telling them very carefully they said "What do you want us to do about it!"
That was not my reason for telling them.
Another thought Mum(who is quite frail)could cope with a long trip each day to a hospital many miles away without me their to offer support)but most said it was right to go with her.
It looked like it was going to cost £350 in tax fares or £269 to stay in a hotel over the road from the hospital but the hospital came through and we have an ambulance taking both of us there and back home each day but I found out by accident so I could've cancelled it and never known.
So we'll see how it goes...
Thank you again... |

Thanks Minx,
Been out shopping this morning, didn't feel like doing it after being at hospital with Mum.
Its awful how you still have to carry on doing every day tasks when they don't mean anything in the great sceme of things but you have to try and keep some normailty to the days...
Lets hope it works out well or we may even get some extra special news that means things are better than they first appear to be...
