Seems we won't have any more from Alan on R2 as he has signed up with Classic FM to present a Saturday morning show starting in the New Year.

I'm not really a classical music lover as such but enjoy several pieces. I preferred Alan's Sunday night selection which had IMHO a good mix of light music and show tunes as well as one or two classical pieces.

I'm looking forward to the new show and think it will be far superior to the stuff he was doing on Radio 2 - but there again I'm not a great fan of what was once termed 'middle of the road music' which I think more or less describes his former Sunday evening show on Radio 2

I much prefer either outright rock/pop music or full classical a bit like one of my idols - the truly great Alan 'Fluff' Freeman Very Happy

He could still do some work for Radio 2? It does seem Radio 2 statement saying he would was a lot of rollocks.

I very much doubt it Mark, as the article states Alan now exclusive to Classic FM.

Ah good! I find I'm listening to Classic FM a lot more these days and I shall look forward to hearing Alan's shows.

Having listened to that, and his suggestions of playlists, might find myself listening to Alan instead of Brian Matthew Shocked
