Heard/felt a loud thud about 15mins ago..... no car accident outside.....

Sounded like a bomb went off nearby. Or a sonic boom. Local radio says calls coming in, it was felt in a radius of about 25miles! Warwickshire and Oxfordshire.

Shocked

Lots of storms about today, so perhaps it was an extremely loud (& close) crash of thunder. Lightning striking something? Or an earthquake?!! If you do find out what it actually was, please let us know John. I am intregued!! I wonder if it will be on the 10:00pm news!

Yes, my second guess was, apparently, correct, a sonic boom. I didn't realise such things could be heard across a wide radius of geography, it was heard in several counties, more like 50 mile radius!

Because I was sitting next to a window the sound souded like somethiung had impacted outside close by. Neigbours were all out looking for a car in somebody's wall. It was a nice clean bang.

Where's Cherski when we need him! Razz

It always intrigues me who these people are who ring up the Police etc to report such things.

What do they say "I'd like to report a loud bang" ? Rolling Eyes

and as the Police around here only just manage to turn up for a break in, I don't think they'd be particularly interested in any case...

I'd like to know how two Typhoon jets would be able to assist a helicopter? Confused now a Jump Jet would, but we seem to have disposed of them...
