Blimey! The tickets sold out in just over an hour. It took me an hour and ten minutes just to get the page for buying tickets to load. They were all sold except, three for Saturday, I clicked on, I'll have two, by the time I'd entered my card details and address ... I get a message back saying sorry the tickets were sold while you entered your card details. So I go back to the buy tickets page, there's 1 left for Saturday... I'll have that... same deal by the time I'd entered my details it was gone.... Humph ... then a few minutes later, three tickets became available for Sunday ... went throught the same process but this time managed to secure one single ticket for Sunday- the last one, unless they release some more. Sorry hubby, you're cooking your own lunch that day.....

I heard about it but knew it was well out of range. Bank Holiday weekend, A34/M3, trains every 2 hours - it'll be busy.
Do you know how many tickets were being released, and is that all of them (in other words, how many people are likely to be there?) |

| It's way cool beans- I'm already worrying about what to wear. I don't think it's a huge number, Ron. I know for caravans and camper-vans it was less than 100, so for people, maybe a few tens of thousands I would guess, it's only 40 acres. Luckily for me it's just up the road from my Aunt and Uncle's farm ( about 5 miles away), so we can make it a weekend of visiting and I'll just pop out for the fest on Sunday. It's a pity I couldn't get two tickets though- very few things are fun on your own. |

Yes, these mad scrambles for tickets the moment they're announced don't sound very fair to me. They should, like concert venues, confirm the availability and hold them for at least five minutes while you send the card details.
It almost makes you wish a plague on those who texted in within a couple of minutes. Smug was far too mild a description!! |

To be honest it sounds to me like a clever way to extract vast amounts of money for what will probably end up being an over hyped event - though very enjoyable for the lucky ones who managed to grab a ticket so I'm sure your considerable efforts online will be well worthwhile Rach
At most of these type of events there are always people around who you can talk to - I frequently attend car shows on my own and usually end up talking to more people there than I would at home -last time I went to the biggest show in this area at Tatton Park near Knutsford which takes place in early June and again in late August I ended up staying the night in a very upmarket kind of tent quaffing prodigious quantities of champagne with a group of really wonderful people who made me very welcome
No need to buy any tickets in advance so no messing around on line or rip off booking fees to pay- just turn up and pay on the gate - what could be more convenient

A third of the cash, Rudds, is going to CIN and the rest will go to pay for the bands (unless they're doing it free), hire of portaloos, PA hire, car-parking attendants, security and setting up costs etc, I don’t think anyone will make heaps of cash out of it. Although I understand there’ll be a bacon bun bar …so I’ll be in that queue empting my purse more than once.
Motor shows are quite a good day out usually, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is my fav- I imagine carfest will be like a mini version of that but with a little rock and roll thrown-in for good measure. The Tatton Park Show sounds like fun , although if I spent an night on my own in an up-market tent drinking champagne with a heap of strangers, I’m sure that would lead to certain trouble. My hubby would protect me from that sort of thing. That’s what I’m worried about. |

Hubby and I were discussing which car I may take to Carfest(South), the Lambo, the Lotus , the Ford etc... hubby said, where is it? I said, it's in a field in Hampshire.. he said ... you can take the 4x4 and wellies!
We would have liked to get tickets for Saturday - hubby is a Texas fan but Sunday's line up is cool beans too! |

There’s a huge possibility that Carfest(North) will be organised by next Wednesday! How cool is that. Sub-zero.So for all those people who like camping and standing out in the wind, rain and freezing cold J up North.. ish ( Not really North, Derby/Leeds/Doncaster ish- Southern Jessies) then this one is for you.
Oh the numbers for Carfest(South), Ron, is 20,000 apparently- so that’s quite a long queue for a bacon butty. |

Probably not far enough North, but Wollaton Park would be ideal - it takes 20,000.
Razorlight are already playing there at the annual Splendour music event in July. http://www.splendourfestival.com/

| In other news and after waiting for so long I'd completely forgotten about it. My Carfest (South) ticket has arrived!!! Yes just one for Sunday. A single ticket. I was hoping for an administrative error and get two by mistake but no such luck. I thought perhaps the ticket computer would think- no one would go to car fest on their own, this must be a mistake, I'll issue two tickets../ hmmmmmm.... What am I going to do all day on my own? |

Like I said earlier on this thread Rach just go there and get chatting to some of the car enthusiasts assuming you are interested in such things - genuine car enthusiasts are a very friendly bunch who will make you very welcome even if you know little about cars
I don't know how the Carfest agenda compares with traditional car shows but if you've got great music and excellent cars what more could you want? - apart from your other half being there

My son was at a Ford car fest in California recently, and when he told some of the Thunderbird and Mustang petrol-heads that he owned a Ford Escort Mk2 back home he suddenly had lots of people who wanted to know more! |

Enjoyed that Sammy Hagar song, never heard of it before.
Enjoyed listening to your selection too your Lordship, I only got into REM when Green came out, I absolutely loved that Album.
Madness too I'm in heaven, they were one of my favourite bands when I was at school, along wit The Jam and UB40.
Maybe you could listen to something from The Motors, Graham Bonnet, The Doors or Turin Brakes.

I really enjoy all of those artists Gaz - especially Graham Bonnet - a very underated performer with a fantastic vocal range - I love his eighties single 'Night Games' - and of course in the late sixties he used to be one half of the Marbles whose most famous hit was called 'Only One Woman' as I recall

Ruddles, I didn't know Graham Bonnet was in The Marbles. 'Only One Woman' is a fabulous song. I think it was written by The Bee Gees, it certainly sounds like them. I have the original single somewhere (on the Polydor label) and must dig it out.
I was going to say that Supergirl was his best song but, having checked my Guinness Book Of Hit Singles, realise that that was by Graham BonneY. |

Another one: "Farther on up the road" by Eric Clapton from his excellent 1975 "EC Was Here" live album. The recording is a more uptempo version of the Bobby "Blue" Bland blues classic and I've loved it since first seeing EC perform that number on his UK tour in that year!

Our plan, Colin, is a cunning one- get there before everyone else does! Park ourself in the VIP tent - eat bacon butties and watch the telly/main stage until, either, we burst or get too cold. If the sun comes out we may go out and mingle. |
