I don't suppose many on here will agree with me but I'm quite enjoying Patrick Kielty doing Steve Wright this week. I like his humour.

Well after today's faux pas with the guest using a four letter word he may not be invited back. |

It might be his fault if he had any say in choosing the offending guest
I didn't listen but it really doesn't surprise me
Could anyone see such a thing happening with Steve Wright presenting _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I didn't hear that bit, was it Jason somebody? Presenters rarely have a say in who the guests are on the show and will have been booked well in advance.

Jason Mraz.
He has a new album out.
Guess what it's called.
Love Is A Four Letter Word
The BBC Radio 2 Facebook message:
"The lovely Jason Mraz popped in to chat to Patrick Kielty earlier"
Comments generally favourable. The slip up noted but not made a meal of. |

What on earth is 'lovely' about this idiot when he uses such language on this country's biggest radio station
He should s-- off back to Radio One where he belongs - I'm sure the likes of Chris Moyles would make him very welcome
As for comments on Facebook I prefer to judge opinion from the real world _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I just pointed out the delicious irony in the CD title and the vacuous FB comment. It and the responses may not be the real world but it is all that the public is now allowed in terms of comment on radio programmes, short of making an official complaint.
I am mystified as to why you think he belongs on Radio 1 though.
He's a 35 year old singer-songwriter who plays acoustic guitar and allied instruments. He may not be James Taylor or Gordon Lightfoot but it's easy going and mildly melodic stuff which is certainly not out of place on 2. |

His music may not be out of place on Radio Two but his attitude certainly is and it sounds to me as though he's a 35 year old immature idiot who needs to learn some respect for his audience
Using four letter words at live gigs is one thing - we all know that has gone on for years - but for anyone to do so on mainstream radio displays a total lack of intelligence
People generally resort to such things when they have a sad lack of vocabulary or ability to adequately express themselves and there is simply no place for such people on British radio _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I was bewildered and somewhat disappointed when I watched Adele in concert at the Royal Albert Hall on TV recently...
a truly great, talented singer for sure but why did she have to use the F word so much during the performance??
I just don't get it. I'm no prude and swear like a trooper everyday but is it really necessary?
I'd go so far as to say it isn't even "cool" anymore.
As for Kielty.... all I can say is come back Steve! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Likewise. It's one thing to let off a few expletives if something (or someone) has driven you to it in everyday life. Like you, I've been guilty of it too. But I feel that there cannot be an excuse to deliberately ram swear words down an audience's ears when performing on stage or broadcasting. I think it shows a complete disregard for your audience. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

And me. The Six household doesn't know that much about Adele, apart from the voice. When she first came out with it we both thought put it down to nerves, the RAH can be a daunting place, but don't keep on dear. It's not big and it's not clever _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

Me too!
I always remember him doing Saturday mornings a couple of years back and there was some kind of phone quiz for parent and son/daughter. It wasn't the prize but he managed to arrange for tickets for the R2 concert in Hyde Park the next day for the girl which I thought was really nice of him. as he didn't have to do it.

Sorry I have to disagree - I much prefer Tarrant - for one thing he plays far better music and Kielty just tends to talk inane drivel like many other presenters these days
By the way I once threw a fish at him and I certainly don't regret it - he threw it into the studio audience completely ruining a dress which cost over one thousand pounds so needless to say the BBC ended up picking up a large bill - the man to me is a complete pratt _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

God I thought this bloke is bad, but even worse today. Speaking over the top of Paul McCartney song. Speaking about Eurovision and said Ireland should win this year. ( Shouted come of Dublin ) I thought the BBC were impartial. Could he possibly be replaced. I thought I listen in - Two weeks makes me turn off. |

...........and Steve Wright never speaks over a song???
Only heard the last hour including Mary Portas interview and I actually thought it was good. I tell you I'd rather have him than Tarrant, who is on The One Show as I write, no idea what for as I rarely watch it.

But you're watching it tonight Helen just as I am which must prove that Tarrant does have something
I'm just laughing at his apparent lack of knowledge about Eurovision because to me you can't call yourself a true music expert unless you know most things about music including Eurovision - how can anyone not recall that Gemini scored 'nil' points: _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

No, I Just happened to walk through the living room from the kitchen (we are open plan and I keep my laptop upstairs most of the time) and O/H had TV on, sound barely on, with text so half the picture showed. I said is that Chris Tarrant and it was. All in about 20 seconds so no idea what was happening!
I've never really thought of him a music expert but then I never listened to him on radio until he started to fill in on R2, so I suppose my thoughts don't really count on that score!

Some great oldies today on Steve Wright, all 60s classics: You Really Got Me, It's All Over Now, If You're Going To San Francisco, Albatross.
The bloke came from West Sussex (Chichester) so it's nice to know I'm not the only one in this area with great tastes in music. |

I like the music that both Kielty and Wright play (presumably this is down to the producer, rather than the two dimwits).
However, I was rather put out by Patrick asking us several times today to 'give him a shite'. Well, really! Children could be listening |
