Who some may say? She's a regular on Graham Norton's Saturday show and used to be the voiceover on "Eurotrash". |

Makes you wonder where they find these people.
Paul O'Grady soon dispensed with her voicing his contact details on his show and there's a big difference in doing a short Grill Graham slot to doing a whole show..........

She's the very irritating 'counties dame' who helps Graham give advice to people without listening to anything that's being said.
I am not optimistic, but to be fair the bar has been set very low. |

Another Non radio talent depping. What is going on at Radio 2. Dreadful covering for Vanessa. Why was she asked back? |

She sounds ok to me. Quite chirpy I thought. Who would you prefer, Mark?
You would think with the demise of commercial radio (if I hear the advert for Lorna Windows one more time…) that there would be a plethora of radio talent just swimming about waiting to be picked up by the beeb but there isn’t. Why is that? The facts are, and facts are really stubborn things, you knock em down, they just get up again and stare at you: we all like different things, one man’s meat, is another man’s poison, as my great grandma used to say. So whomsoever was or is chosen as a stand-in for any of 2’s presenters is certain not to meet with approval by all. That’s just life. Suck it up big boy.
There is always a human reaction to someone else being on the radio when your favourite or regular presenter is on holiday, that doesn’t mean the stand-in is poor, it just means you like the regular presenter more than you know. |

In bed snuggled up ( howling wind and rain outside)listening to Maria this morning with Hubby ... and Hubby asked.... is this Graham Norton? No, it's Maria McEarlane, I said, she's sitting in for Lady Vee. Oh, he said, well she's doing a very good impression of Graham Norton. What do you mean?… Just listen: she’s a slightly speeded up version of Graham Norton. After a while I got it- she does have a very similar style of delivery… of course that set hubby off with HIS "impressions"…. But he doesn’t do anyone famous, they’re all impressions of people he works with , people I’ve never met or ever will meet… but apparently his impressions are quite good. He’s only trying to cheer me up cos I’m quite down at the moment with the builders. The thought of have 15 burley chaps crawling all over the house from the crack of sparrow every day was quite appealing when it all started, but now 6-months on and 5-weeks behind schedule… if I never see another builder again…… |

I think they have known each other, worked with each other, for so long that it's inevitable that some vocal (and other?) characteristics have rubbed off onto each other. They're the modern equivalent of the wireless married couple - for Cliff Michelmore and Jean Metcalfe read Graham Norton and Maria McErlane (except that Cliff and Jean really were married - a Norton/McErlane marriage is as likely as Madonna being elected Pope)
15 burly builders - I hope they've got their own toilet facility! _________________ Ron |

She's been dire this week for the half hour I've heard - can't even read the newspapers.
Todays topic for discusion was how to get rid of the smell of a spilt latte from her car- use vinegar she'd been told. So how do you get rid of the smell of vinegar was her next problem. _________________ The wheel keeps on turning...

Well she could try driving round with a couple of Arctic foxes in her car
I recently rescued two of the blighters from a council house in Flint and rehomed them in a wildlife park in North Devon and the car absolutely stank all the way there and part of the way back
But do you know I actually got to like the smell of foxes and now early every morning I go down to the bottom of my garden and just take in the aroma - now I know where the expression 'Foxy Lady' comes from _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

This morning Maria was talking about how to be cool after 40. We were in fits of giggles. Wait for it,... here it is..... the Clarkson... BUT.. right at the end she told us what car she drives..... being cool after 40, isn't driving around in a 55 year old Golf Club manager's mid life crisis car.... |

Cool beans! I like that, Santa. Does it have the recessed handcuffed wrist bays in the rear seats? Cos that would be really cool and just a little kinky. |

I'm surprised you would know about those Rach.. No, mine is a 2004 model with cloth seats in front and a plain vinyl seat in the rear. The 2005 car had the recess for cuffs and the seat was plastic I think.
It's a genuine LAPD pursuit vehicle and all the lights, speed cameras, video camera and sirens work.. I like something different _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Well, you know, I've been around. What a cool car to have. You think you know someone and then kapow! You discover they've got a police car!! That's way cool. My current car is rather dull- not cool at at all. |

A friend of mine had a similar car back in the mid 70s and I was soooo jealous. When he came to sell it I couldn't afford it but I knew one day I'd have one too.
It really amuses me to see fast cars approaching in the right lane, slow to the speed limit when they see the roof lightbar and even more so when they see "Police" on the side.
As somebody mentioned at the last show I went to, "common sense says it's not a UK Police car, but it has the "presence" to make you wonder!" _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Without wishing to put a dampener on what is such a fantastic car Santa are you aware that the number plates don't comply with the appropriate regulations?
I wouldn't recommend driving anywhere in North Wales as the police are red hot on such things _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Listened to Maria while on a coach heading to France this Monday and thought she was pretty decent. Certainly much, much, better than Feltz. |

There's always a "suck it and see" element when driving an American vehicle on the road here Ruddles, whether it's lighting, fenderless hotrods, numberplate conformity or in this case, the emergency lights and the word "Police" on the vehicle.
You're right about the plates. The smaller "import plate" is allowed but it should have letters and numerals conforming to a specified size. Possibly, a suppliers name, ie Halfords, should also apprear on the plate too.
The emergency lights are questionable.. I know it's against the law to have a blue lense anywhere on a vehicle in the UK but my lights are all clear LED units.. until they light up of course. They are all on a master cut out under the bonnet, including the siren and PA system.
The word "POLICE", I'm not sure about... I think if it was on a UK Police car "lookalike", like a Volvo or something, then it would be frowned upon but my car is so obviously not a UK cop car, a blind eye is turned.. but is it illegal? I don't know.
Luckily for me, the area Police are fine with it exactly as it is and I often get a friendly flash from their cars.. they hope to use it for charity/training stuff next year and it's been driven by a Police officer - with the lights and siren on!
I was told by a Traffic Cop friend of mine that even the Norfolk Police helicopter is aware of the roof number on the car! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
