Just listened to Janice's show on 'listen again'. It has to be Tom Petty's 'Into The Great Wide Open'. A great title track from a great album. I remember originally buying it on cassette in Canada. I have since bought a CD copy of it. I don't think there's a duff track on it. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

My track of the day for today has to be 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' by 'The Greedies' - otherwise known as Thin Lizzy and The Sex Pistols as played on All Request Wednesday this evening
I play this every year at my last music gig before Christmas and it never fails to get every single member of the audience up and dancing and/or headbanging - I'd love to have heard their version of 'Silent Night' _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I like that song too. I first heard/saw it on a Christmas TOTP a few years ago.
Talking of Silent Night, Simon Mayo played a delightful version by Stevie Nicks this evening. |

Gerry and the Pacemakers' 'I'll Be There' which Len Goodman played earlier.
Must admit a lot of his tracks today were good, his producer - Alan Boyd who did David Jacobs and of course Terry Wogan!

I've just heard this via 'Listen Again' on Ken Bruce's show. Lloyd Cole and the Commotions 'Forest Fire'. Bernard Sumner has been picking his Tracks of my years. Although he credited this track to his wife. In which case she has excellent musical taste! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSVDJwnrQKI _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Piano Man from Billy Joel which Dermot O'Leary is playing right now. 2 tracks previously he played Chicago's Hard To Say I'm Sorry and I've not heard that in ages.
Strangely I wouldn't say DOLE is my fave on R2 but whenever I listen he plays things that I wouldn't expect on his show.........

Only one track for me today - Angel Pavement played on SOTS this morning
Probably the greatest track of the sixties IMHO not to have troubled the charts
Absolutely superb _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

My TOTD was from SOTS this morning. I didn't recognise it at first: it was Genesis and a wonderful piece of psychedelic rock called In The Beginning. I quickly consulted my From Genesis To Revelation CD (a late 60s album) and was delighted to see it was there. |

Steve Wright, who always plays good music, gave us the wonderful My Silver Lining by the very talented First Aid Kit this afternoon, and as a bonus followed it up with I'll Be Back from A Hard Days Night. |

I picked up on the Beatles track Schiz, Steve is the only one to play tracks like that from A Hard Day's Night album. He often plays Things We Said Today.
There was another not long afterwards I liked but I'll have to go to the playlist as I've forgotten what it was.
H
PS Checked and it was Matt Monro's We're Gonna Change The World. Wogan used to play that a lot. _________________ 88 - 91 FM this is Radio 2 from the BBC!

That Matt Monroe song is wonderful. I heard it too yesterday but wasn't really aware of it before.
Steve also plays And I Love Her from the same album a lot on his Sunday Love Songs show. A classic song but I really do think he plays it TOO much (along with Careless Whisper, True and a weekly Sinatra song). |

Love the Silver Lining's song,Schiz. It is used on a TV advert.
Being reminded of the wonderful I'll Be Back I have just had to play it a couple of times... |

I have both CDs which First Aid Kit have brought out in the past couple of years and both are wonderful, a sort of country folk rock. And I don't even like country music!
As for I'll Be Back, I've had it in my head for two days now. A Hard Days Night must be one of the greatest albums ever. |

Annie's Song - John Denver.
Haven't heard much radio today but have just heard this on Michael's programme...beautiful song....I love it!
I going to have to sneak another one in as Michael is now playing And I Am Telling You by Jennifer Holliday which I also love! What a showstopper |

Dam Busters March on Tracks of My Years chosen by author Frederick Forsythe. He watched the film aged 16 and decided he wanted to fly and went into the RAF.
A true track of someone's years!
