I've been watching this, but an engineer tells me that a lot of equipment hasn't been serviced properly for a long time. There will be lots of bargains to be had (if you get the stuff out of the building - Bush House is notoriously bad for vehicular access) and I've no doubt that we'll be seeing lots of audio studio broadcasting gear on eBay very soon! |

Maybe. I would be interested in Studer ATRs but competition will be stiff - and then there's the logistical problem of moving all items out. I have friend who is a Revox and Studer engineer who has tipped me off about what to look for. I'm also interested in the sort of stuff that others might not be interested in - routing systems, racks, etc. I could do with a couple more mixers, too!
Pity I'm just so darned busy at the moment........ |

We fancied a couple of Herman Miller chairs but as you say getting them out will be the problem! There's a lot of interest in the Studers. I noticed some Precos which don't seem to be so popular.

Yes, there certainly will be. Studer tape machines been a mainstay for BBC audio operations for many years largely because they're widely considered as the best. The problem is that if a machine is to be used in a high quality, once-and-for-all, tape archiving set-up (as it would be with me) then it will need a service and full alignment check - and that could cost £200 or more (and on some models up to £900).
Since you gave me the link I've had a few brief peeks at the list but I've resisted from spending too long just in case a few very nice items attract my attention! |

Not really. Most of the studios are half-empty now, and post-production and racks areas have been cleared out (after many of the staff have been sacked). It's a sad sight now.

You don't need an old desk, do you? What's wrong with the kitchen table? |
