The NHS tribute (cringeworthy)
The music through the years (so much missing)
The bloody awful commotion that was supposed to depict the history of Britain.
Dizzy Rascal (Why FFS?)
The tannoy announcements in French first 
I loved
Abide with me, the dancing and singing was lovely.
The bike riders with the butterfly wings.
The Queen with James Bond
The fireworks & lighting effects
Steve Redgrave carrying the flame into the stadium (Though I still think he should have lit the cauldron)
The Red Arrows (of course)
I thought Lord Coe's speech was good, thought the Mr bean bit was unnecessary and childish and wish Macca hadn't bothered.
Although I would not put it in quite the same way I think Aidan Burley had a point. |

I too was disappointed with Macca's performance and the cock-up with the audio as he started, but I loved the rest of it with the exception of the NHS sequence (so what??). I was able to use the sequence to very hastily describe to my 10-year-old grandson who the key characters were and what their significance was. Very good - and very theatrical. It gave a human dimension to the ceremony that Beijing lacked (that was technically brilliant but soul-less).
My grandson loved the inclusion of Dizzee Rascal and Tiny Tempeh and I see why - they're part of the music that Britain now shares with the world, and whether us old fogeys like it or not he does have a valid point.
I should add that he's a real music nut and loves The Beatles (no prizes for guessing why!) and he has the whole Beatles back-catalogue on his iPod Touch.
Final note: Why on earth did the Queen look so miserable?
Final Final Note: One of my neighbour's beautiful daughters was a dancer and drummer in the show (and was subject to a strict NDA). Their family came originally from Pakistan - and the children are all British in every way. If I met Adrian Burley I'd say something very rude to him because he's complete Tory tw*t. He's the MP of a friend of mine who lives in his constituency in Stafford and he was really angry with that ignorant, pathetic and insulting tweet from the person who represents him in the Commons. |

I've just heard Coe say that soldiers will be allowed into venues to fill rows of empty corporate seats! 
He'd rather do that than sell those good seats to people queuing outside??

Empty corporate seats? I'll have to drop my LloydsTSB Commercial "Relationship Manager" a note suggesting that he gets down there and grabs one. After all, he's done such a good job at ripping my business off this past two years so he's due for a special bonus on me! |

Looks like some of the empty seats are NOT corporate. Maybe they forgot to put them up for sale......
Coe needs to get a grip, he has a huge team of people working on 2012 but they seem clueless to answer basic questions from reporters.
Have to say I vowed to ignore most of the Olympics but it's hard to if, like me, you're always flicking onto Sky 501 or BBC 503 and there's the red button..... and a host of BBC channels 451-460.....
Just caught a glimpse of Sharapova playing Peer and the court is just half full of spectators..... presumably folks can just turn up and pay £20 get in? I don't know - the 2012 website suggests you can only get tickets on-line or over the phone.....

As a theatre owner, I have to sell tickets on a daily basis and if I'd gone about it the way LOCOG have I'd never fill the place. Free tickets and comps should only be a last resort, and as few done as possible - the sort of people who receive freebies never seem to understand their value.
They should have just sold tickets the normal way through deals with the likes of Ticketmaster and See Tickets, who know the patterns and how to cope. |

| I'm not much of a sports fan, but I think it's wrong that people applying for tickets couldn't request tickets for specified events. There's no way I'd have coughed up for tickets only to be told that I get to see what they want me to see. Ok, so if the tickets for the event I wanted to see had sold out, then so be it. I think it's mad... |

This has known to happen at other Olympics. Don't they dare to do this and get staff etc to sit in them without uniform on. They will be caught out.

Mark, we are talking about many empty seats that were never sold in the first place! Remember not all tickets went on sale at the start.
(Coe is too frightened to accept that there has been some no-selling and will blame somebody else)

Yes, but Murdoch's empire controls the satellite channels on the transponders, whereas the BBC has to pay a fortune for anything over and above normal usage. Only an event of this scale can justify the additional resources and channel allocation required. |

It's on Sky as well in the Sports section, saw a full page ad in yesterday's paper. A lot easier to navigate than the red button I expect.

What a lovely lot of dedicated athletes we have gracing our screens daily in these Games... ...each one of them trying their hardest to achieve perfection, giving us many wonderful memories to treasure......am loving it!

It's a brilliant games, Becky. The Beeb have done a great job as well. I can even handle Gary Lineker for a fortnight. But he's no Des Lynam, as someone insightfully pointed out on the POV boards....

I agree. I only dip into events on the telly but what I've seen has been given fantastic coverage by the Beeb - and from a technical point of view it's been an unbelievably complex job.

Lineker comes across as a pleasant enough bloke but he does look lost in front of the cameras sometimes. What bugged about him in the Euros was the way he was referring to the England football team as "us" and "we" all the time - that completely contravenes the rule about presenters remaining objective and impartial. Nobody seems to have told him - and if they did it hasn't sunk in.
Des Lynam he certainly isn't. |

Just back from hols where were stuck with Eurosport1, very poor coverage and too many ads on just the one channel.
Wow, the BBC coverage/button is superb. Enjoyed the athletics today. Looking good for little Jess Ennis!
And the attendance /seats issue seems to have been sorted too, except maybe the tennis.
If GB finishes 4th that will be a fine all-round perfomance

Blimey!! Serena Williams was in devastating form as she swatted a bewildered Maria Sharapova aside, at a windy Wimbledon, to win the Olympic gold medal.
Fingers crossed, after a superb display from Andy against Djokovic last night, he can turn the tables on Roger Federer and win the Olympic men's final. |

Generally speaking, I'm no sports fan but even I'm hooked on watching this Olympics... the Williams / Sharapova game this afternoon was excellent viewing.. Well done to the whole team I say...

A stamp to celebrate Team GB's gold in the rowing men's four will be will be on sale by lunchtime on Sunday.
The honour will be the first time Royal Mail has issued stamps on a Sunday.
Royal Mail will produce the stamp - celebrating Alex Gregory, Pete Reed, Tom James and Andrew Triggs Hodge's success - within 24 hours.
A fleet of 90 Royal Mail vehicles will deliver the stamps to more than 400 post offices by lunchtime on Sunday
Royal Mail will also paint a red post box gold in each of the men's home towns of Cheltenham, Chiswick, Wrexham and Hebden, North Yorks.
This is the ninth gold medal stamp to be issued by Royal Mail.
